LET'S GET COZY! MURDER FOR THE HALIBUT: A PREVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

GIVEAWAY ENDED
MURDER FOR THE HALIBUT
A Cluelss Cook Mystery
BY LIZ LIPPERMAN
ABOUT THE BOOK:
A sports writing job would have been the perfect catch for Jordan McAllister, but in Ranchero, Texas, all she could reel in was the food column. Though she may not know her way around a kitchen, she has no trouble finding herself in a kettle of fish...

Tempted by the offer of a free Caribbean cruise, Jordan accepts a spot as a judge in a week-long big-time cooking competition aboard the Carnation Queen. She just better hope no one finds out that her famous palate is far from refined.

But there are bigger fish to fry when arrogant chef Stefano Mancini falls face first into his signature halibut dish during the first event. While evidence suggests that the handsome Italian chef’s death was an accident, Jordan thinks otherwise. But she’ll have to keep her wits about her—and the sea sickness pills handy—if she’s going to solve this one...

AN EXCERPT FROM MURDER FOR THE HALIBUT:
Watching Michael walk away, Jordan blew out another slow breath before focusing on the water and the disappearing speck, aka Key West, behind them. What was she thinking taking on this assignment as if she had a clue what she was doing? If her boss at the newspaper knew her tastes leaned toward takeout and fried bologna, she was pretty sure she'd no longer be the Globe's culinary expert with her own byline.

And she was positive he wouldn’t have agreed to send her on this cruise to judge food prepared with God-only-knew-what ingredients. Unless her seafood was battered and came with fries, she wanted nothing to do with it.

Feeling like a fraud, she tried to convince herself she wouldn’t be a complete ditz, and then decided, so what if she was? Tomorrow, she and her friends would board the Carnation Queen and cruise for seven days around the Caribbean. A week of fun in the sun, island tours, and frozen margaritas.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR (from the author):
Raised in a small town in Ohio, number eight of nine children, I graduated from nursing school and worked as a registered nurse for many years. When I could no longer ignore the characters talking in my head (No, I’m not on medication), I went back to school and got a professional arts degree. Then I started my first novel.

As most writers will agree, raising a family and working a full-time day job is a challenge when you’re trying to bring those characters to life. Three beautiful grandchildren later, I wouldn’t change a thing in my journey (Okay, I’d outlaw rejection letters.)

Anyone who has tried to write a book and sell it knows it doesn’t happen overnight. I started off thinking I was a romance writer, but those evil villains kept pushing their way into my stories. I discovered I loved killing off people, then tricking everyone into believing it was the wrong guy. Wait — isn’t that mystery writing? So, I gave in and let the mystery in me take over, although I still love romance and sneak it into every story.

But I didn’t get my happy ending just because I now wrote the kind of books I loved. Oh, contraire! Eight years after completing my first book, I finally sold. I am represented by the awesome Christine Witthohn of Book Cents Literary, LLC, who challenges me to take my writing to the next level.

Married to my high school sweetheart, I’ve lived in the Dallas area over twenty years and now call myself a Texan. (The Yankee in me still demands to be recognized every now and then.) We live seventy miles north of Dallas and have two grown children and a large extended family that remains close. Did I mention my three adorable grandbabies?

Since I grew up with love and laughter, that’s always been the type of book I read. If it can make me laugh or cry plus keep me guessing, I consider it a classic. I love mysteries, always have, always will.
