MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:

Jane Green’s ANOTHER PIECE OF MY HEART is a wonderful book from this best selling author. Green gives readers a story about an important current social issue, that of the relationships within a blended family. She starts out by telling how the main characters relate to each other starting with Andi, the step-mother. 

At one point in her life, Andi had thought she would never marry and so when Ethan came along, it seemed like a dream come true. She was getting the husband she wanted and a family all ready to go, even though she still hoped for children of her own. But all things are not as they seem and soon readers learn of the problem that Andi faces in dealing with her husband’s eldest daughter. As a rebellious teen, Emily resents Andi being there and Andi must walk a fine line in trying not to preach to her husband Ethan while knowing that Emily is using him and the divorce/remarriage to get what she wants. While Emily is running wild, Ethan just wants things calm and always gives in to her. On the other hand, younger Sophia is the kind of daughter that Andi wishes both girls could be while meanwhile wanting to have her own children but having to make do with her stepdaughters. She naturally wants to make the relationship work.

Just when you think you could strangle the rude and impertinent Emily, the narrative switches gears to concentrate on Emily and what is behind her reactions. When she gets into a predicament herself, the whole family dynamic changes for Emily and she suddenly starts to see what it is like for Andi. In ANOTHER PIECE OF MY HEART, Jane Green has once again given readers a marvelous story with well written characters and plotline, which ends rather predictably but still leaves the reader satisfied.
