ARE YOU LISTENING? GUILTY WIVES - AN AUDIO BOOK REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

WELCOME TO BOOKIN' WITH BINGO'S"
ARE YOU LISTENING? DAY"
I AM EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE TODAY'S
AUDIO BOOK CHOICE.....
GIVEAWAY ENDED
GUILTY WIVES
 BY JAMES PATTERSON
AND DAVID ELLIS
ABOUT THE AUDIO BOOK:
No husbands allowed!

Only minutes after Abbie Elliot and her three best friends step off of a private helicopter, they enter the most luxurious, sumptuous, sensually pampering hotel they have ever been to. Their lavish presidential suite overlooks Monte Carlo, and they surrender: to the sun and pool, to the sashimi and sake, to the Bruno Paillard champagne. For four days they're free to live someone else's life. As the weekend moves into pulsating discos, high-stakes casinos, and beyond, Abbie is transported to the greatest pleasure and release she has ever known.

What happened last night?

In the morning's harsh light, Abbie awakens on a yacht, surrounded by police. Something awful has happened--something impossible, unthinkable. Abbie, Winnie, Serena, and Bryah are arrested and accused of the foulest crime imaginable. And now the vacation of a lifetime becomes the fight of a lifetime--for survival. GUILTY WIVES is the ultimate indulgence, the kind of nonstop joy-ride of excess, friendship, betrayal, and danger that only James Patterson can create.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
James Patterson has had more New York Times bestsellers than any other writer, ever, according to Guinness World Records. Since his first novel won the Edgar Award in 1977, James Patterson's books have sold more than 230 million copies. He is the author of the Alex Cross novels, the most popular detective series of the past twenty-five years, including Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. Mr. Patterson also writes the bestselling Women's Murder Club novels, set in San Francisco, and the top-selling New York detective series of all time, featuring Detective Michael Bennett. He writes full-time and lives in Florida with his family.

David Ellis is the award-winning author of seven novels, including Line of Vision, for which he won the Edgar Allan Poe Award, and The Hidden Man, which earned him a 2009 L.A. Times Book Prize nomination. Ellis is the Chief Counsel to the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, and he recently served as the House Prosecutor who tried and convicted former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:
This review of GUILTY WIVES by James Patterson and David Ellis comes from a James Patterson fan who has read EVERY adult novel he has written. That said, I found GUILTY WIVES to be one of THE BEST of Patterson’s non-series novels that I can remember. I also “read” it in an unusual way. I listened to 90% of it on the audio book which not only was a relaxing way to read it, but also a great help for some recent eye strain issues. The other part I read from the hard back novel and have to say, I can recommend the book in either format so take your choice….or do both like I did! I fell right in step with the Patterson’s traditional pattern of a prologue to starts you pondering the mystery, and then got caught up in those sweet short chapters, with their cliff hanger endings that keep you reading on.

The characters are well developed and reasonably believable considering they run in a far different league then I do so who am I to question? The four woman, Abbie Elliot and her three best friends, Winnie, Serena and Bryah, all share one common bond of having some kind of issue with their mates. The ladies decide to take a gal pal weekend with a high end trip to Monte Carlo. I lived vicariously through them in the beginning just imagining what it was like to be in the most luxurious hotel complete with all the trappings. After a wild night of gambling and partying, the women find themselves on a yacht with some men they enjoyed flirting with only to awaken the next morning to find themselves in the arms of a much different group of men-the police! A double homicide had occurred and Abby and her friends are accused of the crime.

The arrest and trial move quickly and the nightmare that Abbie experiences during incarcerated is horrific. When Abbie finds out more about the facts leading to their arrest, she is more than sure they have been set up but nobody believes her. She realizes she must now depend on herself to set them free. From the time Abbie escapes from jail until the end of the book, you find yourself unable to stop listening/reading. Some have said that readers can guess the mystery early on but I could not. The people I thought had framed her changed in my mind until the end when it was all made clear. I kept finding new ah-ha moments throughout this unpredictable story and it held my interest while I held my breath! Don’t miss GUILTY WIVES. It is a thrill ride you won’t be sorry you took.

  122. This story is told in flashback - four women go to Monte Carlo for a "girls weekend" - a weekend that leads to a sentence in a French prison. Why? What happened? What the women do not know is that their husbands have followed them to Monte Carlo and are watching them as they enjoy the city and all it has to offer.
