I, MICHAEL BENNETT: A JAMES PATTERSON REVIEW AND DOUBLE FORMAT GIVEAWAY

GIVEAWAY ENDED
I, MICHAEL BENNETT
BY JAMES PATTERSON
& MICHAEL LEDWIDGE
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Police officers shot...

Detective Michael Bennett arrests an infamous Mexican crime lord in a deadly chase that leaves Bennett's lifelong friend Hughie McDonough dead. From jail, the prisoner vows to rain epic violence down upon New York City-and to get revenge on Michael Bennett.

Judges murdered...

To escape the chaos, Bennett takes his ten kids and their beautiful nanny, Mary Catherine, on a much-needed vacation to his family's cabin near Newburgh, New York. But instead of the calm and happy town he remembers from growing up, they step into a nightmare worse than they could have ever imagined. Newburgh is an inferno of warring gangs, and there's little the police-or Bennett-can do to keep the children safe.

Target: Michael Bennett...

As violence overwhelms the state, Bennett is torn between protecting his hometown and saving New York City. A partner in his investigations, federal prosecutor Tara McLellan, brings him new weapons for the battle-and an attraction that endangers his relationship with Mary Catherine. A no-holds-barred, pedal-to-the-floor, action-packed novel, I, Michael Bennett is James Patterson at his most personal and most thrilling best.
AN AUDIO EXCERPT FROM I, MICHAEL BENNETT:
ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
James Patterson has had more New York Times bestsellers than any other writer, ever, according to Guinness World Records. Since his first novel won the Edgar Award in 1977, James Patterson's books have sold more than 180 million copies. He is the author of the Alex Cross novels, the most popular detective series of the past twenty-five years, including Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. Mr. Patterson also writes the bestselling Women's Murder Club novels, set in San Francisco, and the top-selling New York detective series of all time, featuring Detective Michael Bennett. He writes full-time and lives in Florida with his family. To read more about James Patterson, visit the Hachette Book Group website HERE!

Michael Ledwidge is the author of The Narrowback, Bad Connection, and most recently, the coauthor, with James Patterson, of The Quickie, Step on a Crack, Run For Your Life, Worst Case, and Tick Tock.
ABOUT THE "DOUBLE FORMAT" GIVEAWAY:
I am excited to be able to offer James Patterson's latest thriller in two different formats for the giveaway. I am lucky to have received both formats because when I was reading I, MICHAEL BENNETT and had to go somewhere, I just popped the CD in my player and continued listening as I drove along. I also was able to listen to parts of it at the end of the day when my eyes were crossing from too much reading and computer work. To win a copy of I, MICHAEL BENNETT, this time in your comments I made the first comment a requirement. In that comment, please enter which format you prefer. Since the draw will be done for books and audio book separately, your chances do improve if you don't have a preference. If that is the case, just say something like "either format". However, if you only want to win if it can be one certain kind of format, please comment with the kind you would want: hardback or audio book. Thank you for taking time to do this and hope whoever wins gets the format they really want. Good luck!
MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:
Fans of NYPD detective Michael Bennett will be excited to know that he is back in James Patterson’s and Michael Ledwidge’s aptly titled latest cooperative venture I, MICHAEL BENNETT. This is a spellbinding novel whose characters include some horrendously wicked criminals along with Bennett’s beloved family members and loyal coworkers

Bennett is in charge of the operation that is working to capture the violent crime lord Manuel “The Sun God” Perrine, who heads up the Mexican drug cartels. When they get a tip that Perrine is set to be in New York, they plan on capturing the criminal and his men. Although Perrine is indeed caught, Marietta, his bodyguard, escapes vowing to do whatever it takes to free him. Perrine is livid and also threatens anyone who is involved with Michael Bennett including his family.

With all this going on, Bennett decides it is best to take his family on vacation out of town in hopes things will quiet down. However, danger follows Bennett indicating that no place is safe.  Bennett, a widower with 10 children, and their nanny, Mary Catherine, the romantic interest, are his whole life. They also have Grandfather Seamus along with them. He is an endearing, humorous character who adds a lighter note to the story.

Subplots wind in and out of the story and add to the danger and anticipation. Perrine’s vendetta with Bennett is personal and grows becoming extremely lethal. I, MICHAEL BENNETT is an unpredictable mystery written with Patterson’s well known short chapters that keep readers turning pages. If you are the type who likes to sneak a look at the end, I implore you not to because it will only frustrate you. In a slightly unusual turn, Patterson leaves readers with a cliff hanger that can obviously only be remedied with another installment. Oh, the long wait will be torturous but it is also one of the things that keeps Patterson at the top. I, MICHAEL BENNETT seems headed for yet another Best Seller for the popular author.

  2. This is one series by James Patterson I haven't read yet. It sounds really good. A widow with 10 kids, that is a detective? I would like to see how he juggles it all.

  4. First --- Either Format will work just fine! Secondly -- Not my idea of a perfect vacation for me; however, reading or listening about a family taking a vacation where danger follows sounds intriguing so thanks for the duel opportunity I will keep both my fingers crossed for this one.
