TALL, DARK, AND FANGSOME Giveaway

GIVEAWAY ENDED
TALL, DARK, & FANGSOME

BY MICHELLE ROWEN

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Sarah Dearly's vampire life is not all B-positive cocktails. A curse made her a nightwalker, the most vicious vamp there is; the charm she wears to curb her deadly tendencies is losing its juice; and a hunter from hell is turning up the heat. Gideon Chase will kill the ones she loves most if she doesn't obey his orders. That includes breaking up with master vampire Thierry and turning Gideon into an immortal vamp so he can escape a doom of eternal hellfire. Making things worse are Sarah's growing feelings for Gideon, a bad boy who keeps showing a vulnerable side . . . but is it for real? Will Sarah's dark side take over? Or can she cure herself of the nightwalker curse in time to stop Gideon and finally live happily ever after with Thierry . . . forever?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Michelle Rowen was born in Toronto, Ontario. As a child she decided that when she grew up she would become a flight attendant, a jewel thief, or a writer. One out of three ain't bad. She is a self-confessed bibliophile, the proud owner of an evil cat named Nikita, Reality TV junkie, and has an unhealthy relationship with all things Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

FIVE FUN "FANGSOME" FACTS:

1. Throughout writing the Immortality Bites series, Michelle always imagined Hugh Jackman as her master vampire hero Thierry de Bennicoeur. Therefore, she was convinced he was the Sexiest Man Alive years before the rest of North America.

2. Vampires have always been a favorite subject of Michelle’s. There’s so much room to explore—they can be funny, scary, sexy, and a great metaphor for the misunderstood and put-upon members of society that prefer to stay in the shadows lest they be condemned simply for existing. And everyone, at some time in their lives, have felt like a outcast, haven’t they? Maybe this is why vampire fiction is so popular and that the vamps in recent years have become much more humanized.

3. Since it’s Michelle’s home town (or, at least, the nearest large city to her home town) she chose Toronto to be the setting for her vampires. As a writer, one is always told to “write what you know.” Since vampires don’t actually exist (do they??) Michelle figured she should at least know the location.

4. People ask how much of heroine, Sarah Dearly, is like the author. Well, Sarah and Michelle definitely share a sarcastic sense of humor (which, Michelle admits, comes out on the page sometimes much better than it comes out in real life). Other things they have in common: Michelle wanted to be an actress, but is not an actress. She worked as a waitress and bartender for a while, but wasn’t particularly good at either. Other than that, they’re very different. For example, Michelle totally would have chosen Quinn over Thierry. Well...probably. Can’t she have both?

5. Michelle is a huge Twilight fan. This has very little to do with her novels (except for the vampire thing), but she just thought she’d mention it. She is Team Jacob, but Sarah Dearly would definitely be Team Edward.

I think it's cool that Michelle used Toronto as the setting for her book. I'm not from Toronto or the Toronto area myself but I've visited frequently and love reading books set in locations that are familiar to me.

+1 I love that she pictures her characters (at least, she pictures Hugh Jackman -- and who can blame her? -- so I assume she pictures others). I'm always curious what authors have in mind for real world comparisons.

I like that there are some definite similarities between author and character. Yet, despite these.. they would be on different "Teams" in the Twilight series.

Thanks!

A Toronto vampire! Very fun! Who would have thought of a Canadian vampire. They're usually so European or Southern.

I like that Michelle chose to set Toronto as the location because she lives there and knows the area. I find that being familiar with the location adds a great deal to my enjoyment of the book. I'd been to Toronto and really liked the city. Would be interested in reading the book in part for this!

Plus, I like that she enjoyed the Twilight series and is Team Jacob! I am too.

I think it's odd that the author is a 'Team Jacob' but the main character is a 'Team Edward'... I'd think that would have spilled over... ;-)

I can't see why Hugh Jackman couldn't be a vampire...he did play van helsing.

Toronto seems to have a lot of vampires lurking around...like Henry Fitzroy from Tanya Huff's Blood Books.

Great giveaway. I'd love to be entered.

One thing that meant alot from the five facts is that me and michelle both have a huge interest for vampires from a young age! I have always been extremly passionate about vampires before all the twilight and sookie stackhouse books. And it was great to see and author that has a passion at a young age just like me!!!!!
