THE TRUTH ABOUT LORD STONEVILLE: REVIEW & BONUS ENTRIES

THE TRUTH ABOUT
LORD STONEVILLE

BY SABRINA JEFFRIES

MY REVIEW:

The characters in her newest series, "Hellions of Halstead Hall", by Sabrina Jeffries are what grabbed me and drew me in. Jeffries made them likable, fun, and interesting enough to want to follow them in their further escapades. In the series, the Sharpe family are all called to come to the home of their grandmother, Hetty Plumtree (is that not a name that tells you this is quite a character!?). She is 71 and has had it with her grand kids. They are always in some kind of scrape or the item of gossip. From when their parents died, the Sharpe children are known for their antics and social blunders so much so that they are dubbed Hellions of Halstead Hall. Grandmother has had enough and tells them that they all must marry within a year or be cut off from her money and inheritance. The Sharpes try to get Hetty to change her mind as they are not in favor of this but it doesn't work.

The Marquess of Stoneville, Oliver Sharpe, the head of the clan, comes up with his own plan to get out of this. He decides to find the most undesirable and ill-mannered woman to marry and when his grandmother doesn't give him her approval, she will have to call of this silly plan of hers. Of course, he doesn't realize that he may just find what he thinks is the worst only to have her be the best! He comes upon a very outspoken American woman who says she lost her fiance. Oliver makes a deal that if she goes along with him, he will find her beloved. Stoneville can't wait for this Catholic gal, no less, to meet his grandmother!

The woman in this case is an independent sort named Maria Butterfield. She is rather naive and inexperienced however in certain things. As Oliver gets acquainted with her, he finds her more than attractive and she is starting to look pretty desirable to him....which could be bad. He starts to think that perhaps this woman who is everything he wouldn't have thought he wanted, might be the exact soul mate he has needed. Now, how will he convince her of that after his initial proposition? Can he get her to believe him and what of Grandmother not liking her? Will his siblings like her...or was it them in the first place who tried to get the two together?

This series will bring much delight as I assume all the these Sharpes will find a mate in each book...at least that is what I am hoping for. It is such a romantic and enjoyable read that the series is destined to be Jefffries biggest hit yet!

I'd like to win because I enjoy historical romance, especially when I know it's the first book of a new series.

It seems like this book is all about finding out what we really like isn't at all what we thought it would be....which is also true in real life. I'd love to read this.

I like the fact about Sabrina that she thinks if there is a hero character left over in a book she should just write another book about him and so the story continues.

The review was really good. I love the premise of the story. And i really like character driven stories which the review has lead me to believe this book to be.

I was surprised to learn that by the time Sabrina Jeffries was eighteen, she'd eaten chicken heads and jellyfish, and been chased by a baby elephant.
