WORST CASE AUDIO BOOK: PREVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

GIVEAWAY ENDED
WORST CASE
AUDIO BOOK
BY JAMES PATTERSON
AND MICHAEL LEDWIDGE

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Best case: survival

The son of one of New York's wealthiest families is snatched off the street and held hostage. His parents can't save him, because this kidnapper isn't demanding money. Instead, he quizzes his prisoner on the price others pay for his life of luxury. In this exam, wrong answers are fatal.

Worst case: death

Detective Michael Bennett leads the investigation. With ten kids of his own, he can't begin to understand what could lead someone to target anyone's children. As another student disappears, one powerful family after another uses their leverage and connections to turn the heat up on the mayor, the press--anyone who will listen--to stop this killer. Their reach extends all the way to the FBI, who send their top Abduction Specialist, Agent Emily Parker. Bennett's life--and love life--suddenly get even more complicated.

This case: Detective Michael Bennett is on it

Before Bennett has a chance to protest the FBI's intrusion on his case, the mastermind changes his routine. His plan leads up to the most devastating demonstration yet--one that could bring cataclysmic devastation to every inch of New York. From the shocking first page to the last exhilarating scene, Worst Case is a non-stop thriller from "America's #1 storyteller" (Forbes).

ABOUT THE AUTHORS:

JAMES PATTERSON

The subject of a recent Time magazine feature called, "The Man Who Can't Miss," James Patterson is the bestselling author of the past year, bar none, with more than 16 million books sold in North America alone. In 2007, one of every 15 hardcover fiction books sold was a Patterson title. In total, James's books have sold an estimated 150 million copies worldwide. He is the first author to have #1 new titles simultaneously on The New York Times adult and children's lists and is the only author to have five new hardcover novels debut at #1 on the list in one year — a record-breaking feat he’s accomplished every year since 2005. To date, James Patterson has had nineteen consecutive #1 New York Times Bestselling Novels, and holds the New York Times record for most bestselling titles by a single author (40 total).

Patterson is a champion of reading and the founder of the PageTurner awards, which seek to spread the excitement and joy of books and reading in the United States. James's first foray into family fiction, the critically acclaimed Maximum Ride series, debuted on the New York Times list at #1 and remained there for 12 straight weeks. The series has so far made appearances on The New York Times bestsellers lists 87 times, proving that kids of all ages love page turners.

Patterson is the creator of the #1 new detective series of the past dozen years, featuring "Alex Cross" and including the Hollywood-adapted "Along Came a Spider" and "Kiss the Girls," starring Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman. He is also the creator of the #1 new detective series of the past five years, featuring Lindsay Boxer and the other members of the Women's Murder Club, from which the ABC television drama series is adapted. He has authored books behind six films on the Hollywood fast-track, including the upcoming Maximum Ride movie from Avi Arad, the producer of X-Men and Spiderman. Most recently, New Regency Pictures has optioned The Dangerous Days of Daniel X, James’s newest family Pageturner due out in July of 2008.

He is the author of novels — from The Thomas Berryman Number (1976) to Honeymoon (2005) — that have won awards including the Edgar, the BCA Mystery Guild's Thriller of the Year, the International Thriller of the Year award, and the Reader’s Digest Reader’s Choice Award.

One of Forbes magazine's Celebrity 100, James appeared as a guest star on the popular FOX TV show "The Simpsons" in March, 2007.

MICHAEL LEDWIDGE

Michael Ledwidge is the author of The Narrowback, Bad Connection, and most recently, the coauthor, with James Patterson, of The Quickie, Step on a Crack, and Run For Your Life.

I generally am much more of a reader than a listener of books. However, if I am driving(back and forth to visit my daughter at college)I will usually take an audio book with me to listen to, as I despise listening to the commercials on the radio.

one more comment - I love Patterson's books. My favorite are his Alex Cross series which are one of the few that the movies( I just love Morgan Freemen)were almost as good as the book. And there aren't a handful that can say that. I also applaud Patterson's YA books, Maximum Ride,( a great series even for adults) that I believe I read he wrote once discovering the lack of exciting timely fiction out there for his son.

I prefer reading a book, but on long car rides, I like to listen to an audiobook. I'd love to listen to this audiobook. Thanks for the chance.

I would love to enter! Definitely an audio book is difficult for me since I can't go back and reread passages like I can in the book. Great question!

Thanks for the giveaway. I actually enjoy doing both. I love to read books. But I also enjoy throwing an audiobook on my MP3 player and listening while I clean the house or walk to dog.

When I am on long drives, I like to listen to an audiobook instead of music on the radio. At home, I prefer the written pages of a book.

I actually love both. I read during the day and I listen to an audio book every night when I go to bed. They just can't be books about the same type of things, that gets a little confusing. lol

I have to say that I enjoy reading and listening; it depends what kind of mood I am in and what the book is about to be quite honest.

I prefer audiobooks now. I just can't find the time to sit down and read a book, but I can listen to an audiobook while driving to and from work.

I will admit that I have not listened to an audiobook yet! I have always had the idea that those are for people who 'don't want to be bothered' with reading. However, now I am thinking I could get twice as many books 'read' if I listened to books while doing chores. However, I think I will try to win an audiobook first to give it a chance!

Given a choice, I'll take an audiobook every time. Why? ABs allow me to "escape" into a world in which the only voice or sound that I hear is the author's, through the voice of the narrator.

Thanks for entering my name in your giveaway!

I have yet to try an audio book. I do a lot of driving and would love to be able to read and drive at the same time, so an audio book sounds perfect.

I usually prefer actually reading a book because I can settle down in my favourite chair with it along with a cup of coffee and my dog beside me. But I love audio books, too, because I can listen to them while I'm driving or while I'm cleaning the house.

Most of the time I find audiobooks a bit tedious. I can read faster and comprehend better with a book. But audiobooks can really help pass the time when involved with other tasks.

They both have their pluses and negatives. The audio is great for long drives, but if I'm going to be sitting and not needing to focus on the road, I'd rather hold a book.

Normally I prefer to read a book instead of listening to the audio version of it. Since I have had to start driving to so many doctor appointments in a city that is two hours away, I will now find it easier to listen to the audio version and stay awake at the wheel. This will be so much more interesting than what I am hearing on the radio.
