THE BRIDE COLLECTOR: BLOG TOUR, REVIEW, AND GIVEAWAY

GIVEAWAY ENDED
THE BRIDE COLLECTOR

BY TED DEKKER

ABOUT THE BOOK:

FBI Special agent Brad Raines is facing his toughest case yet. A Denver serial killer has killed four beautiful young women, leaving a bridal veil at each crime scene, and he's picking up his pace. Unable to crack the case, Raines appeals for help from a most unusual source: residents of the Center for Wellness and Intelligence, a private psychiatric institution for mentally ill individuals whose are extraordinarily gifted.

It's there that he meets Paradise, a young woman who witnessed her father murder her family and barely escaped his hand. Diagnosed with schizophrenia, Paradise may also have an extrasensory gift: the ability to experience the final moments of a person's life when she touches the dead body.

In a desperate attempt to find the killer, Raines enlists Paradise's help. In an effort to win her trust, he befriends this strange young woman and begins to see in her qualities that most 'sane people' sorely lack. Gradually, he starts to question whether sanity resides outside the hospital walls...or inside.

As the Bride Collector picks up the pace-and volume-of his gruesome crucifixions, the case becomes even more personal to Raines when his friend and colleague, a beautiful young forensic psychologist, becomes the Bride Collector's next target.

The FBI believes that the killer plans to murder seven women. Can Paradise help before it's too late?

MY REVIEW:

FBI Agents Raines and Holden have a new serial killer in Colorado and Ted Dekker Fans have a new thriller coming April 13 in THE BRIDE COLLECTOR! And thrill it will, as Dekker takes readers into the twisted mind of a psychotic killer in a story that tightens like a noose around your neck as the story builds until you gasp for air, and from fright! Ted Dekker doles out the background of the people in the story and sets the scene and then the story takes off like a rocket. From there on, you can’t put it down, so don’t try.

THE BRIDE COLLECTOR is seeking brides for God, and the killer wants everything as perfect as the number 7 when he “takes” a bride, so the only clue he leaves at first is a wedding veil on their head. How they die is best left for you to read about as it will give you some chills to look forward to but I’d warn you to do it with someone else around or at the very least, all the lights on!

Brad Raines and Nikki Holden are desperate due to lack of any forensic evidence and so they turn to The Center for Wellness and Intelligence for help as they feel that this unstable yet exceptional mind they are looking for may have been a patient at one time. The patients at the Center are there for various reasons but are all extremely intelligent and gifted. Here they seek out individuals said to possess certain skills. In the Center, Dekker gives readers the most intriguing of the characters in patients Paradise, Roudy, and the former nun in charge of the center, Allison. Paradise is an especially layered character with secrets that have haunted her for years. Her “gift” is that she is able to see the last moments of a person’s life when she touches them.

When events begin to take on more personal meaning, there is a race to find the maniac before one of their own is taken. Nikki, they feel, is the next target and well may be as the killer sees Raines as a worthy opponent and starts to leave something personal for Raines to find. With Dekker allowing the story to be told from different characters’ point of view, readers will read with one eye squinted closed as they realize they are at times reading from the killer’s mind. As the story races to its climax, the plot goes in an unanticipated direction making some startling turns along the way.

Ted Dekker's THE BRIDE COLLECTOR is written with the phenomenal style one would expect from the man who gave us BONEMAN’S DAUGHTERS. With distinctive characters entwined within a plot that conceals some unanticipated surprises until the moment is right, you will surely find a best seller in your hands as you turn that last page. I know it would be on my best selling, or best READING, list!

I love a little paranormal with intrigue. This book sounds like a winner for the author and hopefully me!

I would love to read this book, it is from my favorite genre. It sounds like it is a good combination of mystery, detection and suspense.

I'd like to read this book because Ted Dekker writes "thrillers that combine adrenaline-laced plots with incredible confrontations between good and evil."

From Ted Dekker's website I learned that "Early in his career he wrote a number of spiritual thrillers and his novels were lumped in with ‘Christian Fiction’ ".
