MY REVIEW:

Charla Krupp’s new book, HOW TO NEVER LOOK FAT AGAIN: Over a Thousand Ways To Look Thinner Without Dieting, is a practical book filled with ideas that really make sense. It is easy to follow and you don’t have to be a wealthy celebrity to follow her suggestions. She uses good old plain common sense and allows you to suddenly look at your body in a completely different way. She covers everything for every person of every shape and size. My first reaction was “yeah, sure!” when I saw the title as I constantly battle with weight but honestly so many of the things she discusses do work and can be applied easily. She even discusses how the wrong purse can make you look bigger! Yikes! I love my handbags so I knew I had to read on!

Charla discusses all body types and problem areas. The book is well organized into chapters about problem areas. Each chapter has a title about a body issue and then goes on to say “You know you have it when…” which then describes what your body must be like to fit in that category. So if you look at say Chapter 10 about Heavy Calves and you analyze if “you have it” then she goes on to explain how to minimize that problem just by wearing the proper clothing. Chapters cover areas of concern like Big Bust, Buddha Belly, Arm Flaps, Big Booty, Wide Hips and Thighs, and well just about any other issue you can think of. She also has a chapter dedicated to telling you how to not look fat in winter, summer, workout clothes, and even for evening wear. So when you realize all this and get rid of the “bad clothes choices” from your closet, Charla even writes about what you can do with these things in the “Swap-Outs” chapter.

Also included is information for instant success with “Thinner by Tonight!” (I dubbed it the miracle myth) as well as a list of “Ten Things That Make You Look Fat”! She includes tips on the right things to buy in “Brilliant Buys”, special help for you tiny, petite people (I know it is hard for you all to find clothes, too) as well as the rest of us who are size 14 and ABOVE. Her sound advice comes through in “Going To Extremes” where she addresses cosmetic surgery and other physical treatments to look better. Lastly and probably most important is the part that even your best bud won’t tell you about and it is called “Don’t You Dare”.

The book has an even balance of all subjects and for all people. Pictures of celebrities as well as “real people” are good visual examples. The fact that Charla has written about every problem and can zone in on it and then offer workable solutions make this book a must-have and good investment if you care about how you look. I am sure this book will be flying off the shelves. ..speaking of shelves, I’m off to clear mine and my closet of all the things I own that I shouldn’t be wearing…hope there is SOMETHING left when I am finished!

I just read an excerpt from this book and I can totally relate to her. Charla and I are both around the same age and we are both 5 feet. I'm sure many women feel fat even though they don't look it to others. I have had this feeling many, many times. I, personally, need tips on what to wear. I sometimes buy clothes and then hate the way they look on me, even though I've tried them on before buying them. Oh, if my husband really knew how much money I have wasted buying clothes that I will never wear...well he would not be happy with me. I think this is a very useful book and I would love to have the opportunity to read it. Thanks for this giveaway.

I didn't realize Charla also worked in the magazine world. Both Glamour and In Style, so she's got a strong fashion background.

I like that the book is divided into chapters according to problem areas. I worry that I will need advice for each area! I also wonder if I will have any clothes left after I follow her advice about what not to wear. ;-)
