DELIVER US FROM EVIL: REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

GIVEAWAY ENDED
DELIVER US FROM EVIL

BY DAVID BALDACCI

ABOUT THE BOOK:

David Baldacci-the #1 bestselling author of The Whole Truth and First Family-returns with his most surprising, heart-stopping, and timely thriller to date . . .

DELIVER US FROM EVIL

Evan Waller is a monster. He has built a fortune from his willingness to buy and sell anything . . . and anyone. In search of new opportunities, Waller has just begun a new business venture: one that could lead to millions of deaths all over the globe.

On Waller's trail is Shaw, the mysterious operative from The Whole Truth, who must prevent Waller from closing his latest deal. Shaw's one chance to bring him down will come in the most unlikely of places: a serene, bucolic village in Provence.

But Waller's depravity and ruthlessness go deeper than Shaw knows. And now, there is someone else pursuing Waller in Provence-Reggie Campion, an agent for a secret vigilante group headquartered in a musty old English estate-and she has an agenda of her own.

Hunting the same man and unaware of each other's mission, Shaw and Reggie will be caught in a deadly duel of nerve and wits. Hitchcockian in its intimate buildup of suspense and filled with the remarkable characters, breathtaking plot turns, and blockbuster finale that are David Baldacci's hallmarks, DELIVER US FROM EVIL will be one of the most gripping thrillers of the year.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

MY REVIEW:

David Baldacci isn’t one of THE best selling authors for nothing and DELIVER US FROM EVIL is proof of that. This is an exciting, suspense filled book that for some people may be tough to read. That is because the villain of the story, Evan Waller, is such an immoral character and his actions are the kind that you might feel are almost too evil to read and certainly comprehend. Of course, that also speaks to Baldacci’s remarkable descriptive writing that makes you feel so much a part of the action. However, DELIVER US FROM EVIL is also filled with other fascinating characters some of whom you can easily identify with as well as some you will remember from THE WHOLE TRUTH. But I do think it is rare that you will encounter such a truly violent villain as Waller.

Evan Waller is a “business man” now living in Canada and who has the most horrific past. However, he may have met his match when two separate operatives are in hot pursuit, neither at first knowing about the other. Reggie Campion is a hard-hitting, compelling woman who has overcome a lot in her own right. In her past, readers will discover part of what makes her have such drive to go after a fiend like Waller. Her reason for going after Waller is different from the second person who Baldacci readers will recognize from THE WHOLE TRUTH. In it, this elusive agent , Shaw, had witnessed a murder and just barely escaped. Now he too is after Waller. As the novel progresses, they inevitably meet, and even find some chemistry between them. as things heat up on all fronts, with other characters playing their parts like Katie James the photojournalist working on an important story who winds up being kidnapped and smuggled to an unknown place.

In the sequel to 2008’s THE WHOLE TRUTH, DELIVER US FROM EVIL takes all these characters and builds to a volatile situation leading to the intense conclusion. Filled with David Baldacci’s signature heart pounding action this is one bestseller you won’t want to miss!

I have read the whole truth. It was a really good mystery. He writes his characters so that you really believe what is going on. I enjoyed the book, and I would like to read the sequel.

"Hitchcockian in its intimate buildup of suspense", I've got to admit anytime I hear a book compared to Hitchcock's my antenna goes and it goes on my "list'.

I read Wish You Well by David Baldacci.

He brilliantly brings to life the sights, sounds, and wonderful peculiarities of living in the mountains of VA. I'll read this one again.

This book reminds me that being a "hillbilly" is not all bad!!

And as an added bonus, D. B. has the Wish You Well Foundation that helps with the literacy initiative. I used to work in an adult literacy program in a rural southwestern Virginia county where, sadly, 1 out of every 5 adults was considered functionally illiterate.

So - he has my TOTAL support!

I used to have an online book store, selling used & new books. I read voraciously and have all of your books, have read and enjoyed all of them. I've put them aside for our 15-year-old daughter to read them as well and will hang on to at least a couple of them in the hopes that I'll see you here at home in Virginia somewhere and can get you to sign one or two of them. :)
