ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Ben Huh is the CEO of Cheezburger Network, which owns and operates I Has A Hotdog, I Can Has Cheezburger.com, Fail Blog, and 38 other popular humor sites. He is a former journalist turned dot com entrepreneur who has a knack for nailing the zeitgeist. Ben has been credited with bringing Internet memes to the mainstream and popularizing Internet culture. The success of his business is attributed to his knowledge of memes, viral content, and crowd sourcing. Ben has been featured in the New York Times, TIME, the LA Times, and Wired magazine, among many publications in print and online.
AUTHOR INTERVIEW:
1. I thank Ben Huh for this interview. I started by asking for some background as I think it would be interesting to see a little about the background of this dot com humorist. Here is Ben's Biography:
Ben is the CEO and founder of Cheezburger Network. He is a former journalist turned dot com entrepreneur who has a knack for nailing the zeitgeist. He has been credited with bringing Internet memes to the mainstream and popularizing Internet culture. The success of his business is attributed to his knowledge of memes, viral content, and crowd sourcing. Ben graduated with a BSJ from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
Cheezburger is one of the largest blog networks in the world where more than 14 million people come every month to get their daily dose of laughter. With 270 million page views per month, the Cheezburger network of more than 35 humor sites including I Can Has Cheezburger, FAIL Blog, Failbooking, Oddly Specific, Emails From Crazy People, ROFLrazzi, and There, I Fixed It is quickly becoming the new Internet media empire. Every day, more than 14,000 photos and videos are submitted and page views are growing at an annual clip of 300%. In addition to the blogs, Cheezburger Network also published four books – ICHC: A LOLcat Colleckshun, ICHC: How to Take Over Teh Wurld, FAIL Nation, and GRAPH OUT LOUD – two of which were on the New York Times bestseller list. In April 2010, another book will be released – I HAS A HOTDOG: What Your Dog Is Really Thinking.
2. Where did you get the inspiration or idea for this book?
From our LOLdog Web site, I Has A Hotdog.
3. How did the title of your book come about?
It was from our LOLdog Web site.
4. What is the next or current book/project you are working on?
Our third book in the I Can Has Cheezburger series will be out this fall. The first two books, “A Lolcat Colleckshun” and “How to Take Over Teh Wurld” were both New York Times Bestsellers.
5. What is something about you that you would want people to know about you that we probably don’t know?
Ironically, I’m allergic to cats.
Ben Huh, who is the man behind Cheesburger Network and some very popular and funny websites including “I Can Has Cheezburger.com” and “I Has A Hotdog”, is the author of I HAS A HOT DOG that was sent to me to review. I have to admit up front that I didn’t know anything about these websites or the Ben Huh humor until I started to look at this book. The book is small and compact but full of so many photos of all kinds of dogs. The photos are cute and since I am a dog lover, I did enjoy that part especially.
With each picture, Huh has written captions that are supposedly things said by or about the dogs. As it says in the description of the book , it is hypothetically about “what your dog is really thinking”. As you see in the example from Huh’s website above, the dog’s picture is enough to make you smile and the humorous captions add to the fun. I am sure that dog lover’s would love the pictures and many will enjoy the humor with all the pictures. As for this reviewer, I thought a few pictures and captions were funny but a whole book full of them was too much for me. I didn’t get all the humor and probably would have put the book down after just a few pictures, tiring of it, but since I was reviewing, I did go ahead with the whole book. I am sure that many fans of these sites and the humor that goes with it will find the book hilarious. I think it is just a matter of taste and I am probably in the minority as the websites are so popular. If you haven’t seen this form of photographic canine humor, you probably will want to and then you can come to your own conclusion.

This looks hilarious. I, like you, may tire of it after the first few pages, however, I would like to find out if it entertains me. Thanks for the chance to win!
