PRIVATE
AUDIO BOOK-UNABRIDGED
BY JAMES PATTERSON
and MAXINE PAETRO
READ BY PETER HERMAN
The police can't help you
Former CIA agent Jack Morgan runs Private, a renowned investigation company with branches around the globe. It is where you go when you need maximum force and maximum discretion. The secrets of the most influential men and women on the planet come to Jack daily—and his staff of investigators use the world's most advanced forensic tools to make and break their cases.
The press will destroy you
Jack is already deep into the investigation of a multimillion-dollar NFL gambling scandal and the unsolved slayings of eighteen schoolgirls when he learns of a horrific murder close to home: his best friend's wife, Jack's former lover, has been killed. It nearly pushes him over the edge. Instead, Jack pushes back and devotes all of Private's resources to tracking down her killer.
Only one place to turn: Private
But Jack doesn't have to play by the rules. As he closes in on the killer and chooses between revenge and justice, Jack has to navigate a workplace love affair that threatens to blow the roof off his plans. With a plot that moves at death-defying speeds, Private is James Patterson's sleekest, most exciting thriller ever.

I find his website incredible, he is so prolific. But his cameo in Castle (in fact, all those guys looked like they were having so much fun) is worth a look in re-runs this summer if you missed it the first time.
JHolden955(at)gmail(dot)com
Well, another terrific page-turner from James Patterson. It starts off with a bang (or a murder) and progresses from there. Can't wait to read it.

Patterson is my all time fave author. I like the CIA aspect he's thrown in for this book

He thought he died and he said "I just remember swimming up to the light, and the pain"....and I thought that was a cool way of saying the typical "he had seen the light" near death phrase.

Oh my gosh. That excerpt was awesome. Can't keep Jack down. I love James Patterson and knew this would be a fab book from the beginning. It is amazing the strength you have when you are running on adrenalin and war is an adrenalin rush all the time. We should pray for our military every day, to come home safely.

I found it interesting that the character spoke of the first time he dies in the excerpt. I'm curious about what he meant. Did he die more than once?

OMG I absolutely love James Patterson. The excerpt certainly caught my attention when he risked his life once more to save his saviors in the helicopter. I can only imagine his pain as he was unsuccessful.
