Sidney Sheldon's AFTER THE DARKNESS: REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

GIVEAWAY ENDED
SIDNEY SHELDON'S

AFTER THE DARKNESS
BY TILLY BAGSHAWE

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Following the success of the New York Times bestseller Sidney Sheldon's Mistress of the Game, this sweeping tale of love and betrayal, vengeance and redemption, will leave you racing to its shocking, triumphant end...What happens when a woman who has everything loses everything? And when a woman who has nothing realizes she has nothing to lose?

Blessed with the face of an angel and the guileless, trusting nature of a child, Grace Brookstein is the prized wife of the king of Wall Street, Lenny Brookstein. A billionaire many times over, with estates around the world, a fleet of yachts, and a life that is the stuff of fantasies, the revered financial wizard made his fortune tending the nest eggs of ordinary people—the elderly, blue-collar workers, small charities, and working families struggling to make a better life for themselves and their children. The embodiment of America itself—ambitious, hardworking, generous, and warmhearted—Lenny is a fixture of the business pages and the society columns, where he and Grace are celebrated for their philanthropic contributions and their lavish annual fund-raising ball.

Despite the stock market's terrifying collapse, the Brooksteins' glamorous lifestyle of Palm Beach polo tournaments and G5 jets remains untouched—until the day Lenny goes sailing from their Nantucket beach estate and never comes home. When his abandoned yacht is found far out at sea, Grace is devastated. Lenny was her world. She has no idea that his disappearance is just the beginning of a dark, terrifying nightmare of murder, lies, greed, and betrayal that will shatter her life and destroy everything she has ever known. . . .

Before she can begin to grieve, the shocking news breaks that the $75 billion invested in Quorum, Lenny's hedge fund, is gone—and everyone believes that Grace has stolen the money. Overnight, the delicate beauty who was once the toast of moneyed society has become a reviled modern-day Marie Antoinette, alone and power-less to stop her infamous fall.

Grace is certain someone is framing her, and she'll do whatever it takes to prove it, even if it means taking the law into her own hands. Surrounded by enemies, with no one to turn to, Grace must learn to rely on herself—a bold, dangerous journey that will transform her in ways she never thought possible and lead her to a startling new life.

Filled with the passion, glamour, twists, and driving suspense that made Sidney Sheldon a bestselling legend, Sidney Sheldon's After the Darkness is an entertaining thrill ride that continues the grand tradition set by the master himself.

Author Tillie Bagshawe brilliantly recaptured the late superstar author’s magic with Sidney Sheldon’s Mistress of the Game—and now she does it again with Sidney Sheldon’s After the Darkness. A classic tale of love and betrayal, and a struggle for survival in the new world order, this is an enthralling novel with ripped-from-the-headlines immediacy, perfect for the post-Bernie Madoff era in America. A tribute to one of America’s most popular and bestselling authors, Sidney Sheldon’s After the Darkness is a novel that the master himself would have been proud to call his own.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Tilly Bagshawe is the New York Times bestselling author of four previous novels, most recently Sidney Sheldon's Mistress of the Game. She lives in Los Angeles and London with her husband and children.

MY REVIEW:

Sidney Sheldon’s AFTER THE DARKNESS by Tillie Bagshawe is the story of hedge fund manager Lenny Brookstein and his young wife, Grace, who was born rich and with a life of freedom to do as she pleased. Her father died when she was young and so Lenny fit the role of a father figure while Grace is Lenny’s ideal trophy wife. With hard work and amazing monetary insight, Lenny raised himself from a life of dismal poverty to being a billionaire. In spite of their age difference, Grace can’t imagine life without Lenny, until he is killed in a boating accident which is later ruled as a suicide. Because of scheming with the funds prior to his death, all the money seems to have disappeared when Lenny died. At first, Grace is blamed for it all and tried for fraud. All she knew including friends, family, and money vanishes. All she has left is to work to clear her husband’s name, and her own. It is then we see the strong woman Grace really is.

Ms. Bagshawe created strong, well-developed characters that involved the reader as you cheered for them or rooted against them. The author has given the reader a suspense filled story with so many twists and turns as it speeds along that you can’t put the book down. I, at least, couldn’t because just when I thought I knew who had done it, something would change and I was proven wrong. I loved the fact at the end that I really had not seen what was coming. As a long time fan, I would like to think that Sidney Sheldon would be very pleased with the marvelously written mystery filled with conspiracy, betrayal and suspense. It made the ideal, entertaining story that I enjoyed so very much on my vacation and I hope you will as well.

I remember watching the Patty Duke show and I found out that Sidney Sheldon wrote almost every episode … wow that was many years ago. Unfortunately, I have never read any of his novels. I found out that he wrote his first novel The Naked Face while working on the script of I Dream of Jeannie. He has number of novels that I have listed below:

The Naked Face
The Other Side of Midnight
A Stranger in the Mirror
Bloodline
Rage of Angels
Master of the Game
If Tomorrow Comes
Windmills of the Gods
The Sands of Time
Memories of Midnight
The Doomsday Conspiracy
The Stars Shine Down
Nothing Lasts Forever
Morning, Noon and Night
The Best Laid Plans
Tell Me Your Dreams
The Sky Is Falling
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Mistress of the Game

Now it seems that Tillie Bagshawe who is also an accomplished author has taken the legacy of Sidney Sheldon one more step in this novel. This sounds like a great novel that I would truly like to read. Thanks for hosting this giveaway.
