THE QUICKFIRE CHALLENGE COOKBOOK

BY THE CREATORS OF TOP CHEF
FOREWORD BY PADMA LAKSHMI

PHOTOGRAPHS BY ANTONIS ACHILLEOS

ABOUT THE COOKBOOK:

On the heels of winning the Emmy for Best Reality Show last week, I thought it would be fun to kick off BRUNCH WITH BINGO'S first Sunday with THE TOP CHEF: THE QUICKFIRE CHALLENGE COOKBOOK. This is one of my favorite shows and the book is gorgeous!

The much-anticipated follow-up to the
New York Times best-selling Top Chef: The Cookbook is here! Drawing from the first 5 seasons of the show, Top Chef: The Quickfire Cookbook features 75 of the best recipes—from Spike's Pizza alla Greek to Stephanie's Bittersweet Chocolate Cake—culled from the Top Chef Quickfire Challenges. Everything the home chef needs to assemble an impressive meal and channel the energy of the Quickfire kitchen is collected here, including advice on hosting a Quickfire Cocktail Party and staging Quickfire Challenges at home. Best of all, this book is spilling over with sidebar material, including tips for home chefs, interviews with contestants, fabulous photos, and fun trivia related to the chefs, dishes, and ingredients that make Top Chef a favorite.

FOREWORD:

Padma Lakshmi is host of Top Chef. A former model and actress, she is the author of two cookbooks. Her introduction is as charming as she is. She says, "The Quickfire forces our Chef'Testants to do, in a sense, what we do at home on most nights, and that is what this book is about.: Taking the fruits of the creativity and talent of our chefs and bringing them home to you."

INTRODUCTION:

The introduction gives an overview of what the Chefs and the book are dealing with when Quickfire Challenge is mentioned. It says, "The Quickfire Challenge--with its curveball ingredients and sadistic time limits--is not only the most audacious and hair-raising part of the show, it is also the most inspiring."

This part also includes information and photographs entitled "Behind the Scenes with TOP CHEF Producers".

PHOTOGRAPHER:

Antonis Achilleos is a New York-based photographer

TABLE OF CONTENTS:

The QUICKFIRE CHALLENGE COOKBOOK is divided into sections and includes recipes and photographs from each of the chefs whose winning dish was chosen.

The Sections are:
  • FROM FRIES TO FOIE GRAS: Ingredient Challenge
  • UTENSILS DOWN-HANDS UP: Time Challenge
  • OUTSIDE THE BREAD BOX: Creativity Challenge
  • SHOW YOUR MAD SKILLS: Technique Challenge
  • FACE THE FIRING SQUAD: Judges' Challenge

I bought a cookbook about different breads from around the world and I love the ones that I have already tried. It has been 100 or a above each day until now so maybe I can get back to trying out some more the bread receipes.

I love the Top Chef TV show! I would love to win this cookbook! Please enter me in the giveaway.

One thing that I found interesting about the website was that the show's season will be about varied tastes of Washington, DC. I have only been to DC once, but I loved the city and its restaurants.

I also enjoyed reading about the contests such as Fill-it-Buster orange juice squeezing contest.

Thank you for a great giveaway!

A recipe that I would love to try (if I can find one) is a recipe to make those crunchy little fried noodles that they serve in Chinese restaurants. I know they aren't in the healthiest of food groups but I would still love to learn to make them!

Something I have recently learned to make since it is a favorite of my husband is fresh crab cakes.
