WELCOME TO
BOOKIN' WITH BINGO'S
"ARE YOU LISTENING? DAY"
I AM EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THIS FRIDAY'S
"ARE YOU LISTENING? DAY"
AUDIO BOOK CHOICE IS.....
GIVEAWAY ENDED
A DESIRABLE RESIDENCE
BY MADELEINE WICKHAM

ABOUT THE AUDIO BOOK:
From the author of the sensational bestselling Sophie Kinsella novels and the New York Times bestsellers The Wedding Girl and Sleeping Arrangements, comes a wicked comedy of adultery, angst, and modern marriage.

The asking price for this house includes a stunning renovation of hearts and dreams....Liz and Jonathan Chambers were stuck with two mortgages, mounting debts, and a miserable adolescent daughter. Then realtor Marcus Witherstone came into their lives—and it seemed he would solve all their problems. He knew the perfect tenants from London who would rent their old house: a glamorous PR girl, Ginny, and her almost-famous husband, Piers.

But soon Liz is lost in blissful dreams of Marcus, Jonathan is left to run their business, and neither of them has time to notice that their teenage daughter is developing an unhealthy passion for the tenants, Piers and Ginny. Everyone is tangled up with everyone else, and in the most awkward possible way. As events close in, they all begin to realize that some deceptions are just a bit too close to home.

A Desirable Residence is sure to continue the phenomenal success of the Sophie Kinsella/Madeleine Wickham franchise.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Madeleine Wickham is the author of several acclaimed novels, including A Desirable Residence, Swimming Pool Sunday, and Cocktails for Three. As Sophie Kinsella, she has written a number of bestsellers including the Shopaholic series including Shopaholic & Baby.

I think it is interesting, the characters are so interested in other people, they aren't seeing their own families. I would love to have this book.

I absolutely love Madeleine Wickham (and her alter ego Sophie Kinsella). I have read all of the books under Sophie Kinsella and am now making my way through the books under Madeleine Wickham. I am never dissapointed! Desirable Residence sounds very interesting, with all the characters becoming wrapped up with each other and loyalties seeming to shift through the group. Can't wait!

Went to the author's website and was delighted to see just how many of her books I have read! The only won I found that I have not read or atleast have ready to read was The Wedding Girl. I will have to pick that one up!

I want to listen to this book because I know the situation of selling and buying. We tried it both ways, one time with a contingency to buy if the other house sells (that was crazy, we went through four buyers) then the next time we sold, rented a place and bought. That was much easier but it was difficult to find an apartment that want a long term lease. The books sounds interesting in many ways and this is just one of them.

I listened to the audio excerpt but I don't know if I like the reader. The voice is a bit snobbish and the accent a bit thick in some places making it difficult to understand. I justed don't feel that the reader "fits the book". But that's just my opinion.

Listened to audio and the reader has a pretty heavy English accent, I love the voice she uses for the male realtor who doesn't seem to have much interest in Liz initially.

On her website she stated that her dream to play Becky in Shopaholic would be for a new young unknown actress.

The audio was interesting in how the house had been on the market for a long time and that the realtor thought they should perhaps lower the price.

I've read Cocktails for Three and all the Shopaholic books. What fun! Great characters! I love to listen to books in the car as well. (Hey, since I can't read while I'm driving, it's great to have someone else read to me!) This would be a wonderful addition to my collection.

It sounds like there are some interesting characters + mounting debt and mortgages is what A LOT of families are currently living through. Will be interesting to see how she portrays that type of burden.
