ONE LUCKY WINNER WILL WIN
THE SET OF ALL FIVE BOOKS!
And here is a little about each book:
A personal memoir by bestselling author and celebrity journalist Glenn Plaskin, KATIE is a moving story about a man who discovers the true meaning of family after adopting a cocker spaniel puppy. Through the magnetic personality of his mischievous dog, the author soon makes powerful connections with several of his down-the-hall neighbors in a high-rise located in the unique Battery Park City neighborhood of Lower Manhattan. First, Katie trots into the lives of Pearl and Arthur, a warm-hearted elderly couple just a few doors down from Glenn. Later, John, a single Dad, and his rambunctious young son, Ryan, also move in and are seduced by Katie's charms.
All of their lives are profoundly changed as they are transformed from neighbors to friends to family, with Pearl as matriarch. The motherless boy finds a "Granny"; his Dad inherits a mother, Glenn discovers a confidante. Set in New York City, we witness nearly sixteen years of antics and family adventures spanning Hollywood high times, bad health, accidents, blustery winters, even the terrors of 9/11. Through it all, the family clings to each other, sharing a deep bond that give each comfort, support and security.
Based upon a widely-read article in Family Circle, here is an unforgettable story about the love that makes a family-one that transcends the hard realities of time, tragedy, and inevitable loss.

OOGY
By Larry Levin
By Larry Levin
In the bestselling tradition of Rescuing Sprite comes the story of a puppy brought back from the brink of death, and the family he adopted.
In 2002, Larry Levin and his twin sons, Dan and Noah, took their terminally ill cat to the Ardmore Animal Hospital outside Philadelphia to have the beloved pet put to sleep. What would begin as a terrible day suddenly got brighter as the ugliest dog they had ever seen--one who was missing an ear and had half his face covered in scar tissue--ran up to them and captured their hearts. The dog had been used as bait for fighting dogs when he was just a few months old. He had been thrown in a cage and left to die until the police rescued him and the staff at Ardmore Animal Hospital saved his life. The Levins, whose sons are themselves adopted, were unable to resist Oogy's charms, and decided to take him home.
Heartwarming and redemptive, OOGY is the story of the people who were determined to rescue this dog against all odds, and of the family who took him home, named him "Oogy" (an affectionate derivative of ugly), and made him one of their own.

GoD and DoG
GOD AND DOG is a phenomenon. First appearing on YouTube, the video of Wendy Francisco's charming animated illustrations and moving song tells of the unconditional love of both God and Dog.
With over 2 million YouTube viewings to date, Francisco's story appeals to all ages, to animal enthusiasts, to people of religious persuasions, and especially to anyone who has been loved by a dog.
Now in book format, Wendy's touching narrative will be expanded on through additional lyrics, illustrations, photographs and some of the powerful mail that is continually being sent to Francisco.

DOG TAGS
A German Shepherd police dog witnesses a murder and if his owner--an Iraq war vet and former cop-turned-thief--is convicted of the crime, the dog could be put down. Few rival Andy Carpenter's affection for dogs, and he decides to represent the poor canine. As Andy struggles to convince a judge that this dog should be set free, he discovers that the dog and his owner have become involved unwittingly in a case of much greater proportions than the one they've been charged with. Andy will have to call upon the unique abilities of this ex-police dog to help solve the crime and prevent a catastrophic event from taking place.
HOW TO BE YOUR DOG'S BEST FRIEND
For nearly a quarter century, How to Be Your Dog's Best Friend has been the standard against which all other dog-training books have been measured. This new, expanded edition, with a fresh new design and new photographs throughout, preserves the best features of the original classic while bringing the book fully up-to-date. The result: the ultimate training manual for a new generation of dog owners - and, of course, for their canine best friends. The Monks of New Skete have achieved international renown as breeders of German shepherds and as outstanding trainers of dogs of all breeds.

How To Be Your Dog's Best Friend By the Monks of New Skete has to be a remarkable book if it's been the standard against which all dog training books are measured for years. I love the fact that it's monks who are doing the training and telling people how to train their books because monks are gentle people who won't be harsh with the dogs, abusive or neglectful and will teach owners to be kind and firm when training their dogs.
It's not surprising this is the top dog-training book!

The mMonks of New Skete live in Cambridge, NY and have been there for more than 30 years. In addition to How to Be Your Dog's Best Friend, they've also written a book on raising puppies and on the true state of happiness.
The monks are quiet, gentle people who know how to treat people and animals with kindness. I'm going to try to read their books, for the life philosophy, even though I propably won't be raising dogs anytime soon!

I really want to read all of these but especially Oogy. I just finished reading The Lost Dogs about Michael Vick's pit bulls and am now quite sympathetic to the pit bull rescue cause.
Following your blog with GFC now
I'd like to read Katie, up and down the hall because I used to have a cocker spaniel (that I rescued from a neighbor who made him stay outside all the time) and I miss those big brown eyes.
Oogy proves that not all pets have to be pretty. I've had a 3-legged cat, one-eyed cats, cats with cauliflour ears, sogs with skin conditions and constantly watering eyes.
I'd like to read KATIE-UP AND DOWN THE HALL because we really like cocker spaniels
KATIE-UP AND DOWN THE HALL sounds great! Sure hope the book ends before she dies!
Thanks for the giveaway!
