"BAFFLING BINGO DAY"
MYSTERY BOOK CHOICE IS.....

GIVEAWAY ENDED
THE PURRFECT MURDER
A Mrs. Murphy Mystery
BY RITA MAE BROWN
& Sneaky Pie Brown
ABOUT THE BOOK:
New York Times bestselling authors Rita Mae Brown and her feline partner, Sneaky Pie Brown, return with a new mystery starring Mary Minor “Harry” Haristeen, the sleuthing cats Mrs. Murphy and Pewter, and corgi Tee Tucker. But are they any match for a killer who’s made an entire town suspect by committing…

Autumn has arrived in cozy Crozet, Virginia, and that means the town’s inhabitants are hard at work in home and garden preparing for winter. Harry is planning to harvest her first crop of Petit Manseng grapes along with her beloved sunflowers. Meanwhile, her recent marriage to Fair and her friendship with Deputy Cynthia Cooper, who’s rented nearby Blair Farm, are flourishing. But even when peace descends on the idyllic countryside, murder is lurking.

Mrs. Carla Paulson is one of the diamond-encrusted “come-here” set who has descended on Crozet with plenty of wealth and no feeling for country ways. She’s determined to make her new house the envy of all her well-heeled friends—and enemies—and she’s hired architect Tazio Chappers to build it.

From the start, the project—and Mrs. Paulson—turns into a major headache relieved only by a side trip to study Thomas Jefferson’s extraordinary summer home at Poplar Forest. Harry couldn’t foresee that a day later Mrs. Paulson would be found stabbed to death at a gala fund-raiser with Harry’s friend, Tazio Chappers, standing over her, holding the knife.

Now Harry must solve what seems to everyone else an open-and-shut case. Every other human, that is. For her four-legged friends see it Harry’s way. But will they have to choose between catching the purrfect killer or saving Harry?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Rita Mae Brown is the bestselling author of the Sister Jane novels-Outfoxed, Hotspur, Full Cry, The Hunt Ball, The Hounds and the Fury, The Tell-Tale Horse, and Hounded to Death-as well as the Sneaky Pie Brown mysteries and Rubyfruit Jungle, In Her Day, Six of One, and The Sand Castle, among many others. An Emmy-nominated screenwriter and a poet, Brown lives in Afton, Virginia.

PRAISE FOR THE BOOK:
"While the humans philosophize over the big issues, the pets steal the limelight.”—Kirkus Reviews

“Well-paced … unpredictable.”—Publishers Weekly

“Rita Mae Brown has never shied away from addressing the topical—or letting the serious overwhelm the funny…. Brown provides a perfect diversion for a cold night, complete with a cat or a dog on your lap.”—Richmond Times-Dispatch

I have read her other books, and I have enjoyed them. I love the animals in the story and how they help solve the crimes. This new one sounds really good, I would love to read it.

First of all the mystery genre is one of my favorite and I love mysteries that seem on the surface to be an open and shut case as this review states. I like what the Publishers Weekly stated …. “Unpredictable.” Sounds purrrrrfect to me! I absolutely love her bio on her site and the first the two paragraphs reads:

“If you are reading this, it means you too managed to be born. How we come into this world affects our experience of the world, and I hasten to add that none of us asked for the adventure. However, once here on earth, it is often delightful and occasionally destructive.

My entrance occurred on November 28, 1944, and the cats, hounds and horses of the world rejoiced. The humans didn’t give a damn. What do they know?”

If her writing is anything like her spirited Bio then I am really interested in this book. So thanks for hosting this giveaway.

“HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERONE” Now pass the pumpkin pie I am ready for dessert!

The first thing that I noticed in Chapter One was that the cats looked forward to a ride in the car.
I have had three cats in the past (before pet carriers weresold) and each one of them could not stand rides in the car. After the car started moving they would immediately jump to my shoulder and scream right into my ear. The characters in the story are interesting but I think that the cats are more so.

I thought it was interesting that this author said that she couldn't understand an auithor writing a book without an animal being an important character. I am still interested in reading
'A Nose for Justice' as I really love dog mysteries.

I have spent the last 2 hrs reading Rita's website and was fasinated. I did not realize she is younger than me, that she loved horses and fox hunting and the number of books she has written, wow. It was a great 2 hrs and I do admire her ability to write such great books. Of course Sneaky Pie is my favorite since I have 4 rescued cats myself.
