THE HEIR
BY BARBARA TAYLOR BRADFORD
ABOUT THE AUDIO BOOK:
At the age of thirty-three, Edward Deravenel, having survived harrowing years of betrayal, threats from ruthless enemies, countless lovers, and a war that ravaged his country, is finally king of his company. It’s 1918, an influenza pandemic is sweeping the country, and Edward has a family and a business to protect. He must thread his way between his loyal brother, Richard, and his treacherous middle brother, George, an alcoholic bent on self-destruction . . . but not before he tries to ruin Edward and his good name. Meanwhile, the wrath of his ever-jealous wife, Elizabeth, is reaching a boiling point as suspicions about Edward’s relationships with other women arise.
Politics of inheritance are intense, and different family factions vie for honor over the years. An heir is needed to keep the Deravenel name alive, but tragedy and death remain obstacles at every turn. The choices include a loyal caretaker, a jealous rumormonger, a charming young woman, a sickly boy, and the scion of the family Edward ousted from power years before.
Barbara Taylor Bradford triumphs once again with a novel about passion, treachery, marriage, and family, and the compromises we’re forced to make for power and love.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

I am interested to see how they could do everything during the spanish flu pandemic. (I tried to watch the videos, but they weren't there for me- it could be my computer)

Wow at 76 years old and 82 million books sold in 90 different countries … absolutely no matter how you measure it that is SUCCEES. She is one of wealthiest women writers in the world. The one thing that I found really interesting in the video is seeing her type on a typewriter … isn’t that a hoot! You sure don’t see many people using them today. I have never read any of Barbara’s novels and it may be because it’s a genre that I usually don’t read; however the video and this review has peaked my interest so I will drop my name in your “Plaza Suite Diamond Drape Hat” and hope for the best.

I watched the promo and loved the CBS morning intereview. I like that her detemination, strength and ambition spill over into her books. If all of her 24 previous books have been bestsellers, she must be doing something right. I would like to be entered in this book giveaway.

I would like to start off with her first book, 'A Woman of Substance'. Having heard about in the interview and read about on her website, it seems to speak of the qualities that the authr has herself.

I remember reading "A Woman of Substance" when it was first published---I think it's time to re-read it now thirty years later.
farrll@crosslake.net
This book really interests me because our family just went through an "inheritance war" of it's own.
farrell@crosslake.net
This was supposed to be my first comment but it didn't seem to "take" earlier.
The reader's voice on the audio just seemed to draw me into the story---and it seemed to be just "British" enough for the book.
farrell@crosslake.net
Thanks for the giveaway. The audio books sound really good. Please enter me in contest. Tore923@aol.com

My husband's great grandparent died during the flu epidemic and his granddad, at only 18 months was raised by other relatives. I love to take a look at the world during that time.

I'd love to read (or hear) about the trouble maker in their family. The biggest drama always happens at home!
I am interested in the story it sounds intriguing

I would want to win this just because of the author. I have read most all of her books. I remember reading the first one and from that time I waited for the next one to come out. The Heir has what I like in a book. The good guy struggling to do right and one or more bad brothers tearing it down. But.. I like to see how good overcomes the evil. ybutler@oppcatv.com
I would like to read the Breaking the Rules new book. I have not read this one but I know it will be as good as all the others.
Hearing about the audiobook with the voice reading with the emotions it has in it appeals to me. ybutler@oppcatv.com
The lead character is my namesake.

The book is interesting. The inheritance war is interesting. This era of our history with all the changes going on and the pandemic is interesting. My dad grew up during this period. I have always been interested in it. garrettsambo@aol.com

Please check your videos, as I had a hard time getting it to work and then could only watch some of it. However, what I did see was ok and the voice was very soothing.
