"BRUNCH WITH BINGO DAY"
FOOD BOOK CHOICE IS.....

 GIVEAWAY ENDED
PAULA DEEN:
IT AIN'T ALL ABOUT THE COOKIN'
BY PAULA DEEN
WITH SHERRY SUIB COHEN

ABOUT THE BOOK:
You may think you know the butter-loving, finger-licking, joke-cracking, queen of melt-in-your-mouth Southern cuisine. You may have even heard some version of her Cinderella story (a single mom with two teenage sons started a brown-bag lunch business with $200 and wound up with a thriving restaurant business, a fairy-tale second marriage, and wildly popular television shows), but you have never heard the intimate details of her often bumpy road to fame and fortune.

Courageously honest, downright inspiring, and just a little bit saucy, Paula shares the highs and the lows of her life in her inimitable charming and irreverent style. She talks about her childhood, the difficulty of her first marriage, and how the death of her beloved parents precipitated a debilitating agoraphobia that crippled her for years. But even when the going got tough, Paula never lost the good grace and sense of humor that would eventually help carry her to success and stardom.

Whether she's telling tales of good times or bad, Paula Deen speaks as frankly and intimately in this memoir as few women in the public eye have ever dared. Her story is proof that the good, old-fashioned American dream is alive and kicking, and there is still such a thing as a real-life happy ending.

FROM PAULA DEEN'S WEBSITE, PAULA WRITES, "In my new book, I talk openly about the good times and bad in my relationships with my sons Jamie and Bobby. I also recount my courtship and second marriage to "Shaggy Man" Michael Groover – and the difficulties we overcame to unite our families as one. I lay all my cards on the table to reveal my reluctant addiction to smoking and my weakness for salty language. Of course, no Paula Deen book would be complete without recipes, so I close each chapter with one of my favorites."

TO GO "BROWSE INSIDE THE BOOK" AT THE SIMON & SCHUSTER WEBSITE, GO HERE!

ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
Paula Deen was born and raised in Albany, Georgia. She later moved to Savannah, where she and her two sons, Bobby and Jamie, started the Bag Lady catering company. The business took off and evolved into The Lady & Sons Restaurant, which is located in Savannah's historic district and specializes in Southern cooking, as well as Uncle Bubba's Seafood, which she co-owns with her brother. Paula is the author of Paula Deen's Savannah Style, Paula Deen's The Deen Family Cookbook, Paula Deen's Kitchen Wisdom and Recipe Journal, Christmas with Paula Deen, Paula Deen: It Ain't All About the Cookin', Paula Deen & Friends, The Lady & Sons Just Desserts, The Lady & Sons Too!, and The Lady & Sons Savannah Country Cookbook. She publishes a bimonthly magazine, Cooking with Paula Deen (Hoffman Media) and is a regular guest on QVC, where she sells her books and food products

Sherry Suib Cohen has written twenty-one books for major publishers and was a contributing editor at McCall's, Rosie, New Woman, and Lifetime magazines. She regularly writes for periodicals, including Parade, Family Circle, Redbook, Reader's Digest, and Ladies' Home Journal. Cohen is an award-winning member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors and lives with her husband, Larry, in New York City. She makes a great soup.

I've heard bits and pieces of Paula's story, but her talent for cooking certainly got her a good start with her lunch business and I'd love to read what happened between that and fame!

I hardly ever throw my name into hat for cooking type books, but this one seems to be more orientated towards the life of Paula Deen – I am absolutely interested in reading about this southern charm. The wife and I love to watch her show even though there are very few recipes that we have tried due to the diet that we both try to maintain – you know there is just something about this fascinating woman that seems to capture you and engulfs you like a grandmother’s hug. Maybe it’s that welcoming southern charm when she said, “Y’all need to really try this!”

The second Chef that we enjoy watching is Bobby Flay --- especially the show Throwdown with Bobby Flay. I have found Bobby to be another Chef that is so down to earth and so humble that he his willing to put his cooking talents to the ultimate test with other chefs in their field of expertise. I find that when his dish isn’t picked he is so humble in his attitude and so for that reason alone he a favorite Chef of ours.
I toss my name in your “Chef Hat” – y’all keep your names below mine and we all will get along just peachy. HeHe
