MOLLY HARPER-GUEST POST and DOUBLE BOOK GIVEAWAY

GIVEAWAY ENDED
"NEW BOOK BASED ON 2009

ICE STORM EXPERIENCE"
BY MOLLY HARPER
author of the NICE GIRLS Series,
as well as the upcoming
"NAKED WEREWOLF" Series

An ice storm. Stranded in a strange, isolated place without power. Children with an unsettling ability to win staring contests. This is how horror movies start.

Watching the news coverage as cities across the Midwest are pelted by the much-touted historic blizzard, I’m having strange sympathy pangs. In January 2009, an ice storm ripped through Kentucky, taking out power and phone lines for thousands of homes, including mine. The first night I spent camped out in my in-laws’ darkened living room with my two young children, I was sure this was just a temporary blip.  It was going to be a funny story we could tell the next winter. As in, “Remember that night we had to sleep on an air mattress in front of Grandma’s fireplace and cook on a gas grill in the garage?”

By the sixth night, I was no longer amused.

Over the next week, Kentuckians were cold, cranky and progressively ill-groomed. I returned to my dark, cold house to forage for supplies one afternoon, only to find my neighbor shaving his head in his driveway. I sincerely hoped that was related to the lack of electricity and not just a personality quirk I'd never noticed before. Neighborhood block parties have been stilted and awkward since.

But I managed to channel my cabin fever, before going the full fire-ax-through-bedroom-door and elevator-full-of-blood route. I started writing. Having recently published the Nice Girls books, a vampire romance series about an undead librarian in small-town Kentucky, I’d already decided that I wanted to write a werewolf story. And being isolated, in the dark, in an increasingly crowded, enclosed space, I decided to set the story in the frozen regions of Alaska.

While we waited for the power to come back on, I wrote about twenty pages of notes by candlelight.  What emerged was the story of Mo Wenstein, a woman who moves across the country to escape her intrusive hippie parents and make a life for herself in the remote town of Grundy, Alaska. Cantankerous neighbor Cooper has been giving Mo a hard time about her place in her new community since day one. But when Cooper stumbles onto her porch, naked, with a bear trap clamped around his ankle, she realizes there’s more to him than a surly- though attractive- surface. A series of werewolf attacks, for which Cooper may or may not be responsible, dysfunctional werewolf clan drama, and romantic hijinks ensue.

The manuscript grew over the next few months and became HOW TO FLIRT WITH A NAKED WEREWOLF, which is due to be released by Pocket Books on Feb. 22, wherever books are sold.  The sequel, THE ART OF SEDUCING A NAKED WEREWOLF, will follow on March 29.

So, while the encroaching claustrophobia is frustrating, make the best of your snow days. Use the milk, eggs and bread you hoarded to make French toast. Plow through the To-Be-Read pile of paperbacks on your nightstand.  Write journal entries about the sights, sounds and emotions you’re experiencing as a blizzard survivor.

You never know.  You could turn this experience into your first manuscript.

ABOUT AUTHOR MOLLY HARPER:

Raised in Mississippi and Kentucky, Molly Harper graduated from Western Kentucky University with a bachelor's degree in print journalism. She worked for six years as a reporter and humor columnist; her reporting duties included covering courts, school board meetings, quilt shows, and once, the arrest of a Florida man who faked his suicide by shark attack and spent the next few months tossing pies at a local pizzeria. Molly lives in western Kentucky with her husband and daughter.
HOW TO FLIRT WITH
A NAKED WEREWOLF
BY MOLLY HARPER

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Northern Exposure

Even in Grundy, Alaska, it's unusual to find a naked guy with a bear trap clamped to his ankle on your porch. But when said guy turns into a wolf, recent southern transplant Mo Wenstein has no difficulty identifying the problem. Her surly neighbor Cooper Graham—who has been openly critical of Mo's ability to adapt to life in Alaska—has trouble of his own. Werewolf trouble.

For Cooper, an Alpha in self-imposed exile from his dysfunctional pack, it's love at first sniff when it comes to Mo. But Cooper has an even more pressing concern on his mind. Several people around Grundy have been the victims of wolf attacks, and since Cooper has no memory of what he gets up to while in werewolf form, he's worried that he might be the violent canine in question.

If a wolf cries wolf, it makes sense to listen, yet Mo is convinced that Cooper is not the culprit. Except if he's not responsible, then who is? And when a werewolf falls head over haunches in love with you, what are you supposed to do anyway? The rules of dating just got a whole lot more complicated. . . .

THE ART OF SEDUCING
A NAKED WEREWOLF
BY MOLLY HARPER

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Baring It All

Generations of werewolves have been secretly residing in a secluded valley a stone's throw from Grundy, Alaska. So when a snooping Outsider comes to Grundy to investigate rumors of lycanthropicherself to stay away from him. Cross-species dating is problem enough for a harried alpha female, but on top of that, a rival group of werewolves is trying to move into the valley. With interpack war threatening, Maggie can't afford to be distracted. Combining romance and a career can be tough for anyone; for a werewolf in love with a human, it may be disastrous. . . .

I think that is a great way to spend a winter storm, at least it was a very productive time. The storms have meant alot of shoveling around here. I was actually getting worried about the amount of snow on the roof of our house.

I would like to read how to flirt with a naked werewolf, because it is the first book, but also because I think the author sounds really creative. I would like to see what the ice storm made her come up with.
I would like to read these books because it sounds like the author has a really good sense of humor. I think these books sound good, and I would like to read them.

Using her cabin fever to spark her writing was an excellent idea. I like snow, and being stuck inside for one day was nice because I got some reading done, but it really messed up my work schedule.

We too have had some occasions where because of bad weather, we all had to sleep in the living room close to the fireplace and wood stove for heat and cook on a wood stove. The best thing was with no electricity, we all turned to books to entertain ourselves.

I'd love to read "How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf". I really, really want to win these, cause I've read all the "Nice Girls" series and laughed out loud at Jane often. The got shot by a drunk who thought she was a deer was priceless (I could so see that happening in my neck of the woods)

I think both of Molly's books look really fun and interesting a lighter take on the paranormal genre.

We have missed more school this year because of the winter storms than we have in years. But, we have taken it in stride, played in the snow, made hot chocolate, watched movies and stayed in out of the weather... it's not so bad LOL...

Please enter me in the giveaway.

Well I always like to start with the first book in the series so that's the one I would pick.

I think I should win because I am a big fan of the genre, plus I intend to read and post a review of both books should I be fortunate enough to win.

It's intersting that it was so cold in Kentucky that her imagination led her to Alaska. I never find anything good in storm except the immense plus of not having to go into work. We had our first snow day in 20+ years last week.

I'd probably like How to Flirt. the start of a new series is always exciting. Why should I win? Cause I read every book Molly's vampire series and I'll get a kick out this series too.

I think it's interesting that everyone is so interested and obsessed with these storms----weather has a very primal pull on us I guess. Finding a good diversion from it is important in the winter--the author seems to do a good job of that.

It's nice to hear about someone who got more out of their snow experience than I did. I can't imagine spending spending that amount of time with two bored children. =)

Personally, I always loved winter storms because they've always meant a thrill and a chance to cozy in. Unfortunately, the most recent blizzard has taught me the error of my ways. I didn't get a single bit of reading done.

Of course, I'd love to win the set. I have read and enjoyed Molly Harper's Nice Girl series, so I'm sure I'd love these as well. And I currently can't afford to buy any books, so I'd have to wait forever for the library to get them in, and re-check them out whenever I wanted to re-read them.

For me, I love winter storms because it allows me to stay home instead of going to work. At home, I can finish up reading the piles of book I have yet to start on. but it's also a pain in the aftermath when I have to pull my car out of all the snow.

I think I would like how to flirt with a naked werewolf more because really, the description for the second book wasn't that detailed and clear so I really don't know what's going to happen whereas the first one just drew me in because I already have a tiny grasp of the story. :) Plus, the first one sounds a bit more interesting and thought out!

I think I should win because I would really cherish the book and shower it with TLC (might sound corny and impossible but I would!)

I found it interesting how she likened her plight to a horror movie. The winter storms meant worrying about how the rest of my family was managing. My parents live in Wisconsin and, up until, 2 years ago, so did my hubby daughter, and I. My brother and SIL live in Philly.
