PROFESSOR BINGO PRESENTS: THE HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY GIVEAWAY

WELCOME TO BOOKIN' WITH BINGO'S
"PROFESSOR BINGO  PRESENTS DAY"

I'M EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THIS TUESDAY'S
"PROFESSOR BINGO PRESENTS DAY" IS...
GIVEAWAY ENDED
THE HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY

ABOUT THE BOOKS:
THE HUNGER GAMES
Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When her sister is chosen by lottery, Katniss steps up to go in her place.
 CATCHING FIRE
Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Suzanne Collins continues the amazing story of Katniss Everdeen in Catching Fire, the second novel of the phenomenal Hunger Games trilogy.
MOCKINGJAY
Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she's made it out of the bloody arena alive, she's still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what's worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss's family, not her friends, not the people of District 12. Powerful and haunting, this thrilling final installment of Suzanne Collins's groundbreaking The Hunger Games trilogy promises to be one of the most talked about books of the year.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Since 1991, Suzanne Collins has been busy writing for children’s television. She has worked on the staffs of several Nickelodeon shows, including the Emmy-nominated hit Clarissa Explains it All and The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo. For preschool viewers, she penned multiple stories for the Emmy-nominated Little Bear and Oswald. She also co-wrote the critically acclaimed Rankin/Bass Christmas special, Santa, Baby! Most recently she was the Head Writer for Scholastic Entertainment’s Clifford’s Puppy Days.

While working on a Kids WB show called Generation O! she met children’s author James Proimos, who talked her into giving children’s books a try.

Thinking one day about Alice in Wonderland, she was struck by how pastoral the setting must seem to kids who, like her own, lived in urban surroundings. In New York City, you’re much more likely to fall down a manhole than a rabbit hole and, if you do, you’re not going to find a tea party. What you might find...? Well, that’s the story of Gregor the Overlander,The Underland Chronicles.  the first book in her five-part fantasy/war series,

In The Hunger Games, she continues to explore the effects of war and violence on those coming of age.  Suzanne lives with her family in Connecticut.

Out of the three books I would read the first one first. I have several reviews of these books and they are very positive reviews. I would also mention that this the first book as won a mumber of awards:

It has been named one of Publishers Weekly's "Best Books of the Year" in 2008

The New York Times "Notable Children's Book of 2008".

It was the 2009 winner of the Golden Duck Award in the Young Adult Fiction Category.

The Hunger Games was also a "2008 Cybil Winner" for fantasy and science-fiction books along with The Graveyard Book.

It also one of School Library Journal's "Best Books 2008" and a "Booklist Editors' Choice" in 2008.

I am now hungry to enter your contest so here is my entry!

My sister teaches middle school English and raved about these books. I just read Hunger Games and loved it! I would really like to add the trilogy to my library!

~Enamored Soul~ said...

Entry 1: I think I'd love the first book, "the Hunger Games" best, only because when a trilogy or any series is started, the first book is usually where the reader connects to the characters most - and for me, connecting to the character is extremely important for me to like a book/series. Although, it is quite evident that I will love this series in its entirety! :)

I haven't read any of these books yet but I've heard good things about the series and after reading the summaries for all the books I have to say I'm intrigued.

+1 Entry - Like I said I haven't read the books, if I had to pick anything though. I think I'll like Hunger Games the most.

+1 More entry - I just became a follower of your blog using Google Friend Connect.

+1 More entry - I giving this one a shot even though I haven't read the books yet. If I were Ms. Collins and wanted to do a fourth book in this series, I'd focus on the possibility of the character from the first book growing up and starting a family of her own.

Unfortunately the capitol is still after her and demands in order to get to her that she send one of her own children to participate in the next Hunger Games. I think I'd call the book The Last Game.

I know this doesn't sound very practical, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Thanks for the opportunity!

These books sound like something the Gladiators went through in their era. Imagine having to fight for your freedom & your families safety, only to have all this taken away from you because of a well deserved rebellion?! Was it worth the sacrifices that you would have to face? This sounds like an exciting series that I'd love to get lost in.

I have heard good things about Hunger Games so I think I'd like that one best.

I would have to choose Hunger Games 1st, since I haven't read any of them, but I also hear that Mockingjay is also very good!

A couple of my friends have read this trilogy and couldn't give these books enough praise! I would love to see what all the hype is about. I'm sure my friends are right. These are probably great books!

I am not certain which I would like the best, but I would certainly pick up Hunger Games first, because I prefer to read books in the order of the connected story line.

"The Hunger Games" sounds the most enthralling, especially with the suspense created when Katniss takes her sister's place.

The Hunger Games has piqued my curiousity. They all look like interesting reads and I am sure I would enjoy them all.

I would call the next book 'Showdown'. There would be a massive showdown between the Capitol and Katniss.

I have been wanting to read this trilogy for a long time. I believe I would like the first one, The Hunger Games, the best because it sets the stage, background, and characters for it and the following 2 books.
