BAFFLING BINGO MYSTERY BOOK DAY: WHAT THE NIGHT KNOWS - A GIVEAWAY

WELCOME TO BOOKIN' WITH BINGO'S
"BAFFLING BINGO DAY"
I'M EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THIS THURSDAY'S
"BAFFLING BINGO DAY"
MYSTERY BOOK CHOICE IS.....

GIVEAWAY ENDED
WHAT THE NIGHT KNOWS
BY DEAN KOONTZ

ABOUT THE BOOK:
In the late summer of a long ago year, a killer arrived in a small city. His name was Alton Turner Blackwood, and in the space of a few months he brutally murdered four families. His savage spree ended only when he himself was killed by the last survivor of the last family, a fourteen-year-old boy.

Half a continent away and two decades later, someone is murdering families again, recreating in detail Blackwood’s crimes. Homicide detective John Calvino is certain that his own family—his wife and three children—will be targets in the fourth crime, just as his parents and sisters were victims on that distant night when he was fourteen and killed their slayer.

As a detective, John is a man of reason who deals in cold facts. But an extraordinary experience convinces him that sometimes death is not a one-way journey, that sometimes the dead return.

Here is a ghost story like no other you have read. In the Calvinos, Dean Koontz brings to life a family that might be your own, in a war for their survival against an adversary more malevolent than any he has yet created, with their own home the battleground. Of all his acclaimed novels, none exceeds What the Night Knows in power, in chilling suspense, and in sheer mesmerizing storytelling.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
When he was a senior in college, Dean Koontz won an Atlantic Monthly fiction competition and has been writing ever since. His books are published in 38 languages. He has sold 400,000,000 copies, a figure that currently increases by more than 17 million copies per year.

Twelve of his novels have risen to number one on the New York Times hardcover bestseller list (One Door Away From Heaven, From the Corner of His Eye, Midnight, Cold Fire, The Bad Place, Hideaway, Dragon Tears, Intensity, Sole Survivor, The Husband, Odd Hours, and Relentless), making him one of only a dozen writers ever to have achieved that milestone. Fourteen of his books have risen to the number one position in paperback. His books have also been major bestsellers in countries as diverse as Japan and Sweden.

The New York Times has called his writing “psychologically complex, masterly and satisfying.” The New Orleans Times-Picayune said Koontz is, “at times lyrical without ever being naive or romantic. [He creates] a grotesque world, much like that of Flannery O’Conner or Walker Percy … scary, worthwhile reading.” Rolling Stone has hailed him as “America’s most popular suspense novelist.”

Dean Koontz was born and raised in Pennsylvania. He graduated from Shippensburg State College (now Shippensburg University), and his first job after graduation was with the Appalachian Poverty Program, where he was expected to counsel and tutor underprivileged children on a one-to-one basis. His first day on the job, he discovered that the previous occupier of his position had been beaten up by the very kids he had been trying to help and had landed in the hospital for several weeks. The following year was filled with challenge but also tension, and Koontz was more highly motivated than ever to build a career as a writer. He wrote nights and weekends, which he continued to do after leaving the poverty program and going to work as an English teacher in a suburban school district outside Harrisburg. After a year and a half in that position, his wife, Gerda, made him an offer he couldn’t refuse: “I’ll support you for five years,” she said, “and if you can’t make it as a writer in that time, you’ll never make it.” By the end of those five years, Gerda had quit her job to run the business end of her husband’s writing career.

Dean Koontz lives with his wife, Gerda, and the enduring spirit of their golden retriever, Trixie, in southern California.

PRAISE FOR THE BOOK:
“Compelling, terrifying and fresh . . . one of the best horror novels in years.”—The Associated Press

“[Koontz] seems to know us, our deepest foibles and fears.”—USA Today

“Dean Koontz is not just a master of our darkest dreams, but also a literary juggler.”—The Times (London)

I absolutely love Dean Koontz's work! I especially liked the book trailer for "What the Night Knows" - its very dark and ominous, and is a perfect complement to the book and its theme.

Thank you so much for the article/post on him, and for all the interesting facts. I'm a huge fan. Also, I'm a great fan of this realistic murder/mystery genre - one of my favorite books is "Dark Places" by Gillian Flynn.

Thank you for hosting this giveaway! :)

Interesting Fact:

You will find it interesting to know that I love another novel written by Dean Koontz called "Odd Thomas" - a character which Koontz went on to use in two other books. There is anticipation that a movie is soon to come out, based on "Odd Thomas" and the actor Anton Yelchin will be playing him. I am especially pleased with this casting because I absolutely adored Yelchin as the bumbling, adorable yet quirky young boy in "Charlie Bartlett" and I think he is an excellent pick!!! :)

Dean Koontz is an amazing writer and one of the first I read way back when. Thanks to his Book The Watchers, I absolutely love Golden Retrievers and have one today. Although her name is not Einstein. What The Night Knows looks like another great book. I'd love the chance to discover how Dean koontz writes ghosts.
