WHAT DID I DO WRONG? BLOG TOUR: REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

GIVEAWAY ENDED
WHAT DID I DO WRONG?
BY LIZ PRYOR

ABOUT THE BOOK:
STORIES AND SOLUTIONS FROM GOOD MORNING AMERICA'S ADVICE GURU!

It happens without warning, and it devastates you: Your closest girlfriend cuts you off completely. No more late-night phone calls and emails, no more catch-up lunches and dinners. She has decided for whatever reason to move on with her life and has left you to try to make sense of what happened. The experience can be as painful as the death of a loved one and as confusing as an unexpected breakup with a significant other. You replay scenes from the friendship and wonder what you did wrong. You've lost a loved one and you don't know what to do.

Now, What Did I Do Wrong? gives voice to this painful, common, yet rarely discussed phenomenon and provides a resource—and some answers—that you can rely on. Relationship expert Liz Pryor has had a number of these breakups herself, and so she set out to discover why they were happening in order to help herself—and others—get through the pain and prevent it from happening again. Through personal interviews and her popular website, lizpryor.com, Pryor collected hundreds of stories of friendships gone wrong. She draws on those stories to explore the dynamics of friendship breakups in a candid, intimate way, revealing the patterns, the warning signs, and some ways to put a friendship right or help it change so that it meets your friend's and your changing lives. She also explains how to end a friendship—if you find that you need to do so—in ways that honor both parties' feelings and your history together.

Like the best kind of girlfriend—one who really will stay friends forever—Pryor blends plain, old-fashioned, feminine good sense and good humor with genuine empathy for the thousands of women who live with the confusion and anxiety that linger after the sting of an ended friendship. What Did I Do Wrong? will validate your feelings and inspire you to be more forthright and compassionate with new and old friends. You will be moved and uplifted by the many stories of strong friendships, broken friendships, and renewed friendships that make this book a treasure of women's wisdom and experiences.

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:
WHAT DID I DO WRONG by Liz Pryor is an advice book but one that will make you laugh at times and enjoy the valuable presentation, as well as learn about your own behavior. Liz, recently named as the “Good Morning America Advice Guru” presents solutions on how to deal with our own behavior and how other people’s, especially friend’s, behavior can effect us.

In WHAT DID I DO WRONG, Pryor shares different scenarios on friendship that we believe whole heartily in only to have someone not want to be our friend anymore. Whether there is a misunderstanding or something going on in one or both friends’ lives, often it is a failure to communicate that may cause this rift. But, as Pryor points out, sometimes we have no clue as to what really happened and why. The end result is a change in our own perception of our selves which can really change how we deal with people. Often times people close everyone out as they are afraid to get hurt again so won’t make new friends. The worst part is that when something like this happens, it leaves us depressed and very sad. This is natural, Pryor discusses, as suddenly you don’t have that best friend to do things with and share your hopes, dreams, and nightmares with.

She also addresses how you should behave because it changes that other person’s life dramatically. Pryor points out that when you leave a relationship, you should never just walk away. Comparing it to a romantic situation where you at least have a Dear John letter sent, Pryor emphasizes how much has been put into a relationship with a friend and to just walk away with no reason is cruel. That person deserves some kind of explanation.

Liz Pryor used many interviews and the information from her website to draw on and gathered those stories about the loss of friendship to analyze what may have happened. With all these stories as background, she is able to share with readers what might cause the loss of a friendship and what to watch for so that you can perhaps make changes before things get bad enough to end. I think this was an easy read and one that most people, if not all people, would benefit from. Who is it that can say they are a perfect friend? I know I can’t but this book certainly makes me reevaluate my own actions as well as be able to interpret my friends’.

I admit I walked away from a best friend once. We had been friends for 15 years. Then she moved and expected me to bail her daughter out of jail, etc. It was too much and I ended the friendship. I would like to read this book. I would like to see what she says about friendships.

I really love the topic! Just want to say something to Debbie. I don't think she was a friend at all. I have similiar experiences with two people who wanted to borrow money. In my mind, if I had put myself in their shoes, I could never have done what they did.

Other than that, I want to find out more about like to learn more about being a friend and what to do when the friendship goes south.

I'd like to read this because of the good advice. There is someone I had a good friendship with but no longer and this would help me understand.
