BLACKBERRY SUMMER: A GIVEAWAY

 GIVEAWAY ENDED
BLACKBERRY SUMMER
BY RaeAnne Thayne

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Claire Bradford needed a wake-up call.

What she didn't need was a tragic car accident. As a single mom and the owner of a successful shop, Claire leads a predictable life in Hope's Crossing, Colorado. So what if she has no time for romance? At least, that's what she tells herself, especially when her best friend's sexy younger brother comes back to town as the new chief of police.

But when the accident forces Claire to slow down and lean on others—especially Riley McKnight—she realizes that things need to change. And not just in her own life. The accident—and the string of robberies committed by teenagers that led up to it—is a wake-up call to the people of Hope's Crossing. The sense of community and togetherness had been lost during those tough years. But with a mysterious "Angel of Hope" working to inspire the town, Riley and Claire find themselves opening up to love and other possibilities by the end of an extraordinary summer....

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
RaeAnne Thayne loves words. It started as soon as she learned to read, when she used to devour anything she could get her hands on (cereal boxes, encyclopedias, the phone book, you name it!). She loves the way they sound, the way they look on the page, and the amazing way they can be jumbled together in so many combinations to tell a story.

Her love of reading and writing those words led her to journalism, and she worked for fifteen years as a newspaper reporter and editor.

Through it all, she dreamed of writing the kind of stories she loved best. She started writing romance fiction in 1990 and sold her first book five years later. Since then, she's published more than two-dozen novels and that same number of short stories.

RaeAnne finds inspiration from the rugged northern Utah mountains where she lives with her husband and three children. She loves to hear from readers and can be reached through her web site at http://www.raeannethayne.com

READ AN EXCERPT:
Lousy, stupid horoscope.

Claire Bradford stood with one hand on the doorway and the other clutching her coffee go-cup as she stared at the chaotic mess inside her store.

According to the stars—at least according to the horoscope in the Hope Gazette she'd scanned while standing in line at her friend Maura's coffee shop for her morning buzz after dropping the kids off at school—she was supposed to prepare herself for something fun and exciting headed her way today. She had been thinking more along the lines of a few dozen new customers at her bead store or maybe a big commission on one of her more intricate custom pieces.

Discovering that String Fever had been burglarized during the night didn't exactly fit her personal definition of either fun or exciting. TO FINISH READING THIS EXCERPT, GO HERE!

I love the cover of this book! I wish publishers would give credit to the artists and graphic designers that give the reading public the first thing they view about a book -- the cover. I know -- don't judge a book by its cover. The bottom line is that the cover is the first thing that can draw the reader into the book ... kind of like the door into the story.

I also found it interesting that this author like many others had their start with journalism. I like the name of the town and overall premise that sometimes we find our-self in position that we have to slow down. Sounds as if the protagonist in this novel had to slow down and afterwards found something rewarding by doing so. Blackberry Summer has really intrigued me so I am dropping my name into your hat. Thanks for the opportunity.

Sounds interesting! I like books that take place in small towns. You can watch the characters grow, and see the togetherness of the townspeople. The romance sounds intriguing too!

I had the chance to read about one of the author's favorite quotations.

One of those, by Italian writer and director Luciano de Crescenzo, touched my heart: “We are each of us angels with one wing. And we can only fly embracing each other.”

This quote touched my heart too. I've never heard or read it. Thank you.

I love the cover. It reminds me of picking blackberries at grandma's house.

Also, I identify with the author about reading everything, including phone books, cereal boxes and encylopedias. Remember pulling one off the shelf to browse?

The story has a great story, makes me want to read more.

Finally got back to Raeanne's website. I think it's great that her award winning Dancing in the Moonlight is a free ebook at many ebook retailers this year. I appreciate that authors give us a taste of their work as I'm new to ebooks myself and have been hesitant to try anything that's not tried and true.
