ABOUT THE BOOK:
For New York Times best-selling author Cristina Ferrare, “family, cooking, food, and bringing people together [are] a passion.” That same irrepressible enthusiasm infuses A Big Bowl of Love, Ferrare's homey collection of more than 150 recipes for everyday meals and celebrations. Each dish has been tested, enjoyed, and cherished by Cristina's family and friends, as well as by viewers of Cooking with Cristina--a series of cooking segments that aired on the OWN network (Oprah Winfrey Network).

Cristina's natural warmth, generosity, and creativity is preserved in every bite of these dishes--and this busy professional, wife, and mother shows how to shop, set up a pantry, and use cook once, eat twice recipes to make preparing and enjoying meals easy and fun.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Mother, author, and former talk show host Cristina Ferrare opens up her home, introducing viewers to her family, friends and favorite foods on her new show on OWN, Cristina Ferrare's Big Bowl of Love.

Cristina is an accomplished author, with her New York Times bestseller, Okay, So I Don't Have a Headache, and bestseller Cristina Ferrare's Family Entertainmen and Cristina Ferrare Style and her fourth and most recent book Realistically Ever After, a humorous view of finding happiness when he's not Prince Charming, you're not Snow White and life is not a fairy tale. The success of her books attest to her expertise in the areas of women's health, well being, culinary arts, stylistic design, as well as her great zest for life and her humor. She has just completed her fifth book, a new cookbook due out in May 2011, A Big Bowl of Love. .

In the early 80's, Cristina co-hosted "AM Los Angeles," which was the #1 rated morning television show during her five year tenure. Among her many TV appearances, she has hosted her own shows: "Cristina and Friends" and a two hour live show from Universal Studios' "Home and Family". She was a substitute co-host on "Good Morning America" and co-hosted numerous times with Regis Philbin on "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee." Her primetime series for CBS, "Shame on You," was one of the first magazine format shows that featured consumer fraud and awareness. It set the stage for other prime time magazine formats that followed. For NBC, she co-hosted "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" with Dr. Drew Pinsky. At one time, Cristina had three shows on the air at the same time: the aforementioned live morning talk show, "AM Los Angeles," "The Home Show," and the primetime series "Incredible Sunday" all for ABC. In feature films, she starred opposite David Niven in "The Impossible Years" and the critically acclaimed "J.W. Coop" with Oscar winner, Cliff Robertson. .

In addition to being a regular on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," Cristina has hosted a series of webisodes for Oprah.com, and is a regular blog contributor. .

Cristina's new show on OWN, "Cristina Ferrare's Big Bowl of Love" features celebrity guests along with members of her family and friends serving up great ideas for all kinds of situations that happen in real life! .

In 2006, Cristina, along with her partners Brian Thorson and Tim Hosier, started a line of home accessories through their newly formed "Ferrare With Company." The pieces are sought after by top interior designers around the country and sells to over 60 stores including Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys. They have expanded their business to include clients from France, Turkey, Istanbul, Dubai, and Saudi Arabia. .

Cristina is a sought after speaker and has spoken at various conventions around the country including the 2004 "The Women's Conference" where she monitored a session about women's health and sexual well being. In 2007 she hosted, along with Chef Art Smith, a session on cooking for 300 women! She sits on the Board of Directors for "The Women's Conference" which is headed by California's First Lady Maria Shriver. .

Cristina lives in Los Angeles with her husband, entertainment executive Tony Thomopoulos. They have a blended family of seven children and four grandchildren.

RECIPE FROM BIG BOWL OF LOVE:
Christina writes, "This Cheesecake is the very first thing I taught my daughter Arianna to bake. She now makes this cheesecake better than I do! Arianna gave me a couple of hints on how to make sure it turns out super creamy and smooth, one being NOT to over mix, as it causes the cheesecake to look like a crater and forms cracks after it's bakes. (Who knew?) She loved baking so much that we ended up taking a professional baking course together. It's a wonderful bonding experience. Doing things together in the kitchen reminds me of times that I spent with my own mom and grandmother and that's a great feeling. I suggested to Arianna that we should add fresh fruit on top. She LOVES raspberries so we placed them on top of the cheesecake and poured over a raspberry coulis."

After reading about this book I know it's one I'd enjoy cooking from. It's nice to have a cookbook that the recipes are tested by family and friends and you know they're well liked. I love to add this one to my collection and start cooking from it.

I have borrowed my sister's book of a cookbook that Christina Ferraro had done a few years past. This write up sounds like a good one just as that book was.
