NOW YOU SEE HER: A JAMES PATTERSON GIVEAWAY AND REVIEW

GIVEAWAY ENDED
NOW YOU SEE HER
BY JAMES PATTERSON
& MICHAEL LEDWIDGE

ABOUT THE BOOK:
The perfect life

A successful lawyer and loving mother, Nina Bloom would do anything to protect the life she's built in New York--including lying to everyone, even her daughter, about her past. But when an innocent man is framed for murder, she knows that she can't let him pay for the real killer's crimes.

The perfect lie

Nina's secret life began 18 years ago. She had looks to die for, a handsome police-officer husband, and a carefree life in Key West. When she learned she was pregnant with their first child, her happiness was almost overwhelming. But Nina's world is shattered when she unearths a terrible secret that causes her to run for her life and change her identity.

The perfect way to die

Now, years later, Nina risks everything she's earned to return to Florida and confront the murderous evil she fled. In a story of wrenching suspense, James Patterson gives us his most head-spinning, action-filled story yet--a Hitchcock-like blend of unquenchable drama and pleasure.

AN EXCERPT FROM NOW YOU SEE HER:
Prologue | LIES AND VIDEOTAPE
One
I'D ALREADY TOSSED the driver a twenty and was bouncing up and down like a preschooler last in line for the potty when my taxi finally stopped across from the Hudson hotel on west 58th. I didn't wait for change, but I did nearly get clipped by an express bus as I got out on the street side and hightailed it across Eighth Avenue.
I didn't even look at my iPhone as it tried to buzz out of my jacket pocket. By this point, with my full workday and tonight's party of all parties to plan, I was more surprised when it wasn't going off.
A sound, deafening even by midtown Manhattan standards, hammered into my ears as I made the corner.
Was it a jackhammer? A construction pile driver?
Of course not, I thought, as I spotted a...To read more of this excerpt, visit James Patterson's website HERE!

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:
It seems that once in a while I will read one of my favorite author’s new books and come away disappointed. It makes me wonder if perhaps James Patterson is writing too many books to have them all be great like they used to be. I wonder if the addition of the co-authors is the problem. I get somewhat disheartened at the thought of maybe having to give up these seriously anticipated books he writes, but then a new one comes out and, of course, I can’t resist. Happily, the result is why I am still reading James Patterson after all these years; because he really does write amazing, must-read books, and reaffirms my faith in him again and again. NOW YOU SEE HER is such a book and his next one, KILL ME IF YOU CAN that I will review in a few days, is also right as rain. In NOW YOU SEE HER, with writing partner Michael Ledwidge, Patterson is back in top form with the short chapters I love so very much and the “let me read just one more page turning" thriller.

NOW YOU SEE HER is about a single mother and lawyer, Nina Bloom, who starts out celebrating her much loved daughter’s sixteenth birthday and lying as usual about who her father was. Nina quickly flashes back to where this all began when she was in college and going by her real name, Jeanine. On a spring break trip to Key West, Florida, Jeanine and her friends, including her boyfriend Alex, party too much and the events that follow will change Jeanine/Nina’s life forever. She is witness to Alex cheating on her and takes off in a rage, actually stealing his car and in this escape, she has an accident and runs over a man. The patrol stops and the police officer gives Jeanine a chance, or let’s say a choice. Jeanine goes along with Peter, the seemingly dedicated police officer partly because she is quite taken with him from the start.

However, this is a Patterson book so readers know there are bound to be several especially delightful twists and turns that keep you guessing. NOW YOU SEE HER has more than its share of them and leads Jeanine on a path of no return.  With a serial killer known as the “Jump Killer” attacking women and Peter involved in the case in a way you might not suspect, readers begin to see a glimpse at how Jeanine wound up as Nina years later. When the initial attraction to Officer Peter Fournier proves more than a passing fancy, Jeanine winds up marrying him. She thinks Peter is an overzealous cop and seeks to further himself in his career at all costs but when that all falls apart in Jeanine‘s eyes, she understands what a serious situation she is in. Running from Peter and Key West, a pregnant Jeanine goes to New York in hopes of starting her life over again and so she does as Nina Bloom.

With a plot about a strong willed woman being on the run who suddenly finds her past creeping back into her life, the present with Nina Bloom takes readers on a thrill ride of excitement and danger. Nina is forced back to Key West and embroiled in the middle of a case that has personal danger written all over it, and Nina’s life on the line.

I found the story to have merit for its realism and strong characters. With all the unexpected twists and fast paced reading, NOW YOU SEE HER will hold your attention from start to finish. I was lucky to have this with me on a recent plane trip and my long flight seemed to go by in an instant. If you haven’t found your perfect summer read just yet, there is still time, or check out NOW YOU SEE HER for a perfect end of the week/weekend treat! You won’t be disappointed.

No need to enter me into this contest, but wanted to give my 2 cents worth of opinion. First of all a very nicely done honest review ... in fact a very well done review. Secondly, I have experienced the same disappointment with several of James Patterson / author books. No doubt James Patterson is by far one of the most prolific writers, only because of most of his works are co-authored. My disappointment is because of the pizazz and suspense seems to be watered down. Quantity is necessarily the best recipe for quality. Ok -- I will get off my soap box. As I walk out Bingo's Blog I am thinking wouldn't it be wonderful to read a James Patterson only written by James Patterson.

I have always been a James Patterson fan and only disappointed when he has had co-authors. I like "about the the book part" saying that this book is almost Hitchcock like because I love Hitchcock.
