MY REVIEW/THOUGHTS:
There was a time when I was first in line for the next Jackie Collins book, but as my horizons broadened, there just wasn’t time for every book I wanted to read (and still isn’t!). And so, what a treat when I was approached to review Jackie Collins’ newest book, GODDESS OF VENGEANCE! Add to that the fact that I was able to listen to the always well done Macmillan Audio Book version, and I easily slipped into my old guilty pleasure and the sounds of Jackie herself along with Sidney Poitier reading the book. How much pleasure can one person stand at once?  AND THEN, it IS a Lucky Santangelo mob linked book and set in Las Vegas (that I refer to as “the happiest place on earth…for adults”), and well, I was in Collins' heaven! Let me tell you that it is impossible to not get a kick out of this audio book if for no other reason then to hear Jackie and Sydney read. Also, you don’t have to have read all the other Lucky books in order to get the plot as it pretty much stands alone very well.

In GODDESS OF VENGEANCE, Lucky is almost a minor character (were she not such a strong presence) as she throws an 18th birthday party for Max, her daughter, at The Keys Hotel in Las Vegas that Lucky owns. For those who follow these books, Max is as annoying as ever but it is also part of her charm. Lennie, Lucky’s husband is still a movie director, while Denver and Bobby, Lucky’s son, are still together. This in itself is hard to believe but also what makes the match so intriguing. Enter Armand who is a Prince and thinks he is all that and more. He has no respect for women and when he sets his mind to having The Keys Hotel, he thinks nothing can stop him. Obviously, as we know from Lucky, this is not going to be a harmonious business deal and smooth journey.

With all this as the backdrop and major plot line, how can you not go into this looking for sheer delightful pleasure? Jackie Collins gives readers the strong woman in Lucky and one that for some reason can grab readers and fans as soon as they get to know her. In GODDESS OF VENGEANCE, it is no different. I loved the book if for no other reason than it was such a lot of fun! I think a trip down memory lane reading a favorite author like this was great therapy and also super entertainment!
