His prayer is answered when a stranger comes along and saves him—and now it looks like he has to hold up his end of the bargain. 

The stranger turns out to be a firefighter named Zach, who’s in need of some serious romantic help. If Ambrose can just bring Zach together with Merilee, the nice lady who works at Pet Palace, it’s bound to earn him a healthy ninth life.  Unfortunately for Ambrose, his mission is a lot harder than he ever thought.  Merriliee is way too shy to make the first move on a ladies man like Zach, and Zach thinks he’s all wrong for a nice girl like Merrilee.  Now it’s going to take all of Ambrose’s feline wiles—and maybe even a good old fashioned Christmas miracle—to make them both realize that what they’re looking for is right in front of their eyes.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Sheila Roberts is the author of On Strike for Christmas, Small Change, The Snow Globe, Bikini Season, and other bestselling books. Before settling into her writing life, Roberts did lots of other things, including owning a singing telegram company and playing in a band. Now, when she’s not speaking to women’s groups or at conferences, she can be found writing about the things near and dear to women’s hearts: family, friends, and chocolate. She lives on a lake in Washington.

        When a guy is in trouble he starts making deals with his Creator, and Ambrose was dealing like crazy. Vicious teeth snapped at him and his whole life (actually, all nine of them) flashed before his eyes. If this dog got him it was all over.

          Becoming dog food looked like a distinct possibility since the tree Ambrose had chosen was small and the particular branch he was perched on was a flimsy twig barely capable of holding a kitten let alone a mature cat. And the big, black beast below seemed to have springs on his paws.

        I'll do anything, Ambrose yowled. Anything! Please, let me live a little longer.
        This was life number nine.

MY REVIEW OF THE NINE LIVES OF CHRISTMAS:
The delightful Sheila Roberts has a gift for all readers with THE NINE LIVES OF CHRISTMAS. I especially enjoyed this light and romantic holiday tale in Audio Book format as with my busy schedule around the holidays, it kept me smiling in the madness of holiday shopping. THE NINE LIVES OF CHRISTMAS is narrated from the point of view of Ambrose, the cat. Ambrose is on his last life and as he tells this story, he also shares the “tales” of his other 8 lives. I am a dog person, I will admit it, but still found myself liking Ambrose because Sheila Roberts made him to be such a well developed character. He was, to me, just like a cat would be with his sarcasm and practical, often self-serving, ways. Ambrose is rescued for his ninth life by a brave firefighter named Zach.

Zach is living a life in which he has been burned once too often and I don’t mean by the fires he fights. Instead, his life has been colored from his broken home even though he has a mother in town who longs to be part of his life. Zach also broke up with the one girl he thought he would marry (on Christmas which adds to his feelings for the holiday) so it makes him very much against falling in love again and enjoying the holiday. In the beginning, Zach is with a girl readers will know isn’t for him pretty quickly, and when Merrilee enters the scene, you can see what is coming.

Merrilee is the kind of character you root for as she thinks she is not worthy or as pretty as others and would never get a good man. She is quite the contrary but just doesn’t know it and when Ambrose sees this, he does all he can to get these two together. As you read and think you know where the story is going, it does twist and turn a bit before a revelation at the end shocks you, but still leaves you satisfied all the same.

So if you are looking for some holiday fun, whether to listen to curled up with some hot chocolate or while driving around in these last few days of insanity, THE NINE LIVES OF CHRISTMAS Audio Book will be the perfect gift to give yourself.
