LET'S GET COZY: YOU MIGHT AS WELL DIE - A PREVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

   GIVEAWAY ENDED
YOU MIGHT AS WELL DIE
An Algonquin Round Table Mystery
BY J. J. MURPHY
ABOUT THE BOOK:
One must never pick up a stray piece of paper at the Algonquin Round Table—it might be the check. But when second-rate illustrator Ernie MacGuffin slips Dorothy Parker an envelope, only later does she discover it’s a suicide note: MacGuffin has leapt to his death from the Brooklyn Bridge!

Days later, his works have tripled in value, but something smells fishy to Dorothy. Accompanied by magician and skeptic Harry Houdini, she goes to a séance held by MacGuffin’s mistress, where Ernie’s ghostly voice seems eerily real. But that can’t be, can it?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
J.J. Murphy, an award-winning health care writer in Pennsylvania, has also been a long-time Dorothy Parker fan. J.J. started writing THE ALGONQUIN ROUND TABLE MYSTERIES after the birth of twin daughters, as an escape from toddler television.

They told J.J. Murphy: "Write what you know." So J.J. wrote a mystery about people who joke, drink and write--not necessarily in that order. (It's a far cry from being home with the kids.) In writing the Round Table Mysteries, J.J. Murphy aims to recreate the "anything goes" heyday of the Roaring 20s--a time when wit and champagne sparkled on the tongue, a time when hemlines were short and lunches were long, a time when writers and editors were as famous as the stars on Broadway. In other words, J.J. writes pure fiction (well...not quite so pure).

"SECRETS" ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
In a recent Q&A for J. J. Murphy, she was asked if she had a writing schedule or routine. Here is what she answered:

"A schedule? It's "catch as catch can." I have a full-time job and seven-year-old twins. So, the only time I have to write is at night after the kids go to bed and the dishes are done. I write for 2 or 3 hours two nights a week on average. Some weeks, I have no time or energy to write. I don’t have a special writing room or office either. Most of MURDER YOUR DARLINGS and YOU MIGHT AS WELL DIE were written on a beat-up old laptop at the kitchen table. So, if I can find the time and energy to write a novel, almost anyone can."

J. J. Murphy's first book in the Algonquin Round Table Series is MURDER YOUR DARLINGS.

I love cozies set back in history, it is even more fun to have writers from the
Algonquin be a part of the mystery. Also, Dorothy Parker has always written such witty things so I hope that they show up in this book!
