11th HOUR: PATTERSON AND PAETRO DO IT AGAIN! REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

 GIVEAWAY ENDED
11th HOUR
BY JAMES PATTERSON
& MAXINE PAETRO
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Your best friend...

Lindsay Boxer is pregnant at last! But her work doesn't slow for a second. When millionaire Chaz Smith is mercilessly gunned down, she discovers that the murder weapon is linked to the deaths of four of San Francisco's most untouchable criminals. And it was taken from her own department's evidence locker. Anyone could be the killer--even her closest friends.

Or a vicious killer?

Lindsay is called next to the most bizarre crime scene she's ever seen: two bodiless heads elaborately displayed in the garden of a world-famous actor. Another head is unearthed in the garden, and Lindsay realizes that the ground could hide hundreds of victims.

You won't know until the 11th hour!

A reporter launches a series of vicious articles about the cases and Lindsay's personal life is laid bare. But this time she has no one to turn to--especially not Joe. 11TH HOUR is the most shocking, most emotional, and most thrilling Women's Murder Club novel ever.

EXCERPT FROM 11th HOUR:
A GOOD-LOOKING MAN in his forties sat in the back row of the auditorium at the exclusive Morton Academy of Music. He was wearing a blue suit, white shirt, and a snappy striped tie. His features were good, although not remarkable, but behind the blue tint of his glasses, he had very kind brown eyes.

He had come to the recital alone and had a passing thought about his wife and children at home, but then he refocused his attention on someone else’s child.

Her name was Noelle Smith. She was eleven, a cute little girl and a very talented young violinist who had just performed a Bach gavotte with distinction.

Noelle knew she’d done well. She took a deep bow with a flourish, grinning as two hundred parents in the audience clapped and whistled.

As the applause died down, a gray-haired man in the third row popped up from his seat, buttoned his jacket, stepped out into the aisle, and headed toward the lobby.

OTHER WOMEN'S MURDER CLUB MYSTERIES - HOW MANY HAVE YOU READ?

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:
Who would have ever thought that four friends would wind up solving murder mysteries? On top of that, they even named their group “The Women’s Murder Club”! Leave it, however, to best selling author James Patterson to come up with just such an idea. Now with the eleventh book in this Women’s Murder Club Series, 11th HOUR, Patterson once again teams with Maxine Paetro to bring readers the fearless four to handle not one, but two major cases.

All four women come complete with their own personal side stories that keep the action entwined and exciting. I believe 11th HOUR is one of the better books in the series because Lindsay Boxer, a detective, is pregnant thus bringing with it a whole other set of unique problems to her storyline. Yuki Castellano is the Assistant District Attorney, while Cindy Thomas is a news reporter who always wants the inside edge on a good story. Lastly is Claire Washburn who is the Chief Medical Examiner and one of the most interesting characters to me because of the work she does.

Along with partner Rich Conklin, Lindsay is first on a school’s murder scene where millionaire Chaz Smith has been shot to death. This sets the scene for one key element of the story since it is eventually found that the murder weapons in question are from the police station’s property room. When other people who are related to drugs, or the sale there of, are found murdered, the signs all point to an inside job. This makes for a challenging case as Lindsay has to go after one of their own!

The second case begins when several heads are dug up and found on display in the garden of a millionaire’s estate. The heads are hard to identify let alone connect to the owner who doesn’t even live there anymore. Several key characters including the millionaire make for a story with many twists and turns as suspicion jumps from one to another. Reporter Jason Blayney will do anything for a story even if it sensationalizes it, or makes Lindsay look bad. While her hormones rage, and she handles these two top priority cases, Lindsay must also deal with her husband Joe who is suspected of having an affair. Joe!? Thank goodness for the friendship and help of the “murder club” gals who offer support and their own problems to 11th HOUR.

The ever favorite short chapters keep the story moving and allow for more complications to add to each mystery. Lastly, I especially enjoyed the setting this time as the different places almost portray another character through the unique and descriptive images. A fast read and one of the better Women’s Murder Club stories of late is worth a cool drink and comfy chair to enjoy 11th HOUR in!
