SIDNEY SHELDON'S
SIDNEY SHELDON'S
ANGEL OF THE DARK
BY TILLY BAGSHAWE
ABOUT THE BOOK:
It was his first big murder case—and one of the bloodiest and most violent crimes LAPD detective Danny McGuire would ever encounter. Andrew Jakes, an elderly multimillionaire art dealer, had been brutally murdered in his Hollywood home, his lifeless body tied to his naked young wife. Raped and beaten, the lovely Angela Jakes had barely survived the attack herself. Gazing into her deep, soulful eyes, Danny swore that he'd find the psychopath behind this barbarous act. But the investigation didn't turn up a single solid lead, and within days of Angela's release from the hospital, the stunning young widow—Danny's only witness—had vanished.
For ten years Danny McGuire could not forget the sweet face of Angela Jakes and the terrible crime that had shattered her life; his obsession with her nearly cost him his sanity. Now in France, thousands of miles from the past—with a new life, a new job with Interpol, and a ravishing new wife—he's happier than he's ever been . . . until he meets Andrew Jakes's estranged son, Matt Daley.
Curious about his father's murder, Matt has been digging into the cold case—and made some shocking discoveries. Three killings nearly identical to his father's have taken place across the globe. The victims were elderly, newlywed millionaires, their young wives assaulted. And in each case the widow, the sole beneficiary of the will, donated her newfound wealth to children's charities and then vanished. Could it be true? Had the Jakes killer struck again? If so, Danny knows he must tread carefully or risk losing everything for good.
The evidence points to a single killer—a brilliant and ruthless criminal who travels across the globe under a string of assumed identities, cleverly keeping one step ahead of the law. Joining forces, Danny and Matt pursue this intriguing shadow from Los Angeles to London, New York to Italy and the French Riviera, in a tantalizing game of cat and mouse filled with promising leads and frustrating dead ends. When another murder fitting the profile occurs, Matt heads to Hong Kong, hoping to get answers from the latest widow, Lisa Baring, and perhaps uncover the hard evidence they need.
But Matt becomes besotted with the irresistible beauty, nearly derailing the investigation, and Danny wonders whether Lisa is truly a victim or something more sinister. When a break in the case sends Danny to Mumbai, he knows he must act quickly, for the clever killer is poised to strike again.
A fast-paced story full of mystery, glamour, excitement, and spectacular twists that build to a stunning ending, Sidney Sheldon's Angel of the Dark is quintessential Sheldon from first page to last.

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:
In ANGEL OF THE DARK, Author Tilly Bagshawe once again successfully carries on legendary author Sidney Sheldon’s signature style. Marked by an enthralling and dynamic mystery that holds readers barely on the edge of their seats, Bagshawe has written a fast moving, globe hopping thriller with enough twists and turns to satisfy fans everywhere.
Starting out of the gate with a gruesome murder to solve, ANGEL OF THE DARK follows detective Danny McGuire who is the lead on an eerie homicide. Wealthy art dealer Andrew Jakes is found stabbed to death in his Hollywood mansion and literally tied to his barely alive wife, Angela. Having been beaten and raped, Jakes’s lovely much younger wife survives only to become a suspect herself and in the meantime captures McGuire‘s attention to the point that he becomes somewhat obsessed with her and with solving this case. However, when Angela disappears and Jakes‘s millions are left to charity, the case becomes complicated even more but turns cold with no leads despite McGuire’s dedication to it.
Ten years later, Danny McGuire is working for Interpol in Europe, married to a stunning wife, and for the most part over Angela and the unsolved murder from a decade ago. When Danny finds himself in the company of Andrew Jakes’s estranged son, Matt, the case comes back at Danny full force! Matt tells him how he is trying to solve his father’s mysterious death and has traced several similar murders around the world. Matt thinks there is a connection and after a bit, so does Danny. Thus begins a rapid fire global chase reminiscent of Sidney Sheldon’s best but also enhanced by Tilly Bagshawe’s superb narrative and well developed characters.
ANGEL OF THE DARK will have readers asking questions like why wasn’t Angela murdered? Why was she so brutally attacked but then left tied to her husband? Also, why was each victim’s fortune given to a certain charity? As always, I found myself thinking one answer only to be wrong and quickly steered in a different direction. Of course, just when I thought I had solved ANGEL OF THE DARK, that awesome twist that Bagshawe has perfected a la Sheldon comes in and shocks me! This is a fast moving and exciting mystery…just the kind we have come to expect when a story is associated with the master, Sidney Sheldon! Kudos to Tilly Bagshawe for carrying on the tradition of this much loved author.

This sounds very interesting and along the lines of Sidney Sheldon's books. I've read so many of his book over the years. I'd love to read it.
I don't know how she has time to do all this writing with three children and a husband. Makes me tired just thinking about it.
