ARE YOU LISTENING? THE INNOCENT: A DAVID BALDACCI AUDIO BOOK REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

WELCOME TO BOOKIN' WITH BINGO'S"
ARE YOU LISTENING? DAY"

I AM EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE TODAY'S

AUDIO BOOK CHOICE....

  GIVEAWAY ENDED
THE INNOCENT
 BY DAVID BALDACCI
READ BY RON McLARTY & ORLAGH CASSIDY
ABOUT THE AUDIO BOOK:
America has enemies--ruthless people that the police, the FBI, even the military can't stop. That's when the U.S. government calls on Will Robie, a stone cold hitman who never questions orders and always nails his target.
But Will Robie may have just made the first--and last--mistake of his career . . .
THE INNOCENT!

It begins with a hit gone wrong. Robie is dispatched to eliminate a target unusually close to home in Washington, D.C. But something about this mission doesn't seem right to Robie, and he does the unthinkable. He refuses to kill. Now, Robie becomes a target himself and must escape from his own people.

Fleeing the scene, Robie crosses paths with a wayward teenage girl, a fourteen-year-old runaway from a foster home. But she isn't an ordinary runaway-her parents were murdered, and her own life is in danger. Against all of his professional habits, Robie rescues her and finds he can't walk away. He needs to help her.

Even worse, the more Robie learns about the girl, the more he's convinced she is at the center of a vast cover-up, one that may explain her parents' deaths and stretch to unimaginable levels of power.

Now, Robie may have to step out of the shadows in order to save this girl's life . . . and perhaps his own.
PRAISE FOR THE INNOCENT:
“Yes, this is another great novel by a brilliant writer. Baldacci catches you from the very first page and grabs your attention until the last word. Read it.”
— Lincoln Journal Star
“This book is a definite one-day, ‘edge-of-your-chair’ read, with an ending that is a complete surprise. One of the best Baldacci’s since Absolute Power, this is one that will have all suspense readers enthralled.”
— Suspense Magazine
The Innocent is Baldacci at his absolute best…Baldacci provides the reader a non-stop pulse pounding ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat into the wee hours of the morning…Five Stars.”
— Examiner.com
“This is going to be a runaway best seller . . .David has really outdone himself, creating two new characters who will stay with you long after you’ve turned the last page. He’s also cranked up the action, leaving his readers breathless as they try to keep up with the plot.”
— Sulphur Springs Star-Telegram
“Baldacci’s storytelling hits the mark, as usual.”
The Free Lance-Star
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
David Baldacci made a big splash on the literary scene with the publication of his first novel, Absolute Power. A major motion picture adaptation followed, with Clint Eastwood as its director and star.  In total, David has published 24 novels,  all of which have been national and international bestsellers.  Those novels have been translated into more than 45 languages and sold in more than 80 countries; over 110 million copies are in print worldwide. David has also published two young adult novels.  He has received numerous accolades for his writing; most recently, he was inducted into the 2011 International Crime Writing Hall of Fame and received the 2012 Barnes & Noble Writers for Writers Award.

A lifelong Virginian, David was born in Richmond in 1960. He received his Bachelor’s degree in political science from Virginia Commonwealth University and his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, after which he practiced law for nine years in Washington, D.C.

While David is involved in several philanthropic organizations, his greatest efforts are dedicated to his family’s Wish You Well Foundation®.  Established by David and his wife, Michelle, the Wish You Well Foundation supports family literacy in the United States by fostering and promoting the development and expansion of new and existing literacy and educational programs. In 2010 the Foundation partnered with Feeding America to launch Feeding Body & Mind, a program to address the connection between literacy, poverty and hunger. Through Feeding Body & Mind, nearly 1 million new and used books have been collected and distributed through area food banks. David explains, “With this program, people go home with food, which they need to live, as well as with books, which they need to change their lives.”
David and his wife are the very proud parents of two terrific teenagers and the generally proud owners of two not-so-well-behaved Labradoodles. They live in Northern Virginia.
AN EXCERPT FROM THE INNOCENT:
Will Robie had closely observed every one of the passengers on the short flight from Dublin to Edinburgh and confidently deduced that sixteen were returning Scots and fifty-three were tourists.

Robie was neither a Scot nor a tourist.

The flight took forty-seven minutes to cross first the Irish Sea and then a large swath of Scotland. The cab ride in from the airport took fifteen more minutes of his life. He was not staying at the Balmoral Hotel or the Scotsman or any of the other illustrious accommodations in the ancient city. He had one room on the third floor of a dirty-faced building that was a nine-minute uphill walk to the city center. He got his key and paid in cash for one night. He carried his small bag up to the room and sat on the bed. It squeaked under his weight and sank nearly three inches.

Squeaking and sinking were what one got for so low of a price.

Robie was a half inch over six feet and a r0ck-solid one hundred and eighty pounds. He possessed a compact musculature that relied more on quickness and endurance than sheer strength. His nose had been broken once, due to a mistake he had made. He had never had it reset, because he'd never wanted to forget the mistake. One of his back teeth was false. That had come with the broken nose. His hair was naturally dark and he had a lot of it, but Robie preferred to keep it about a half inch longer than a Marine buzz cut. His facial features were sharply defined, but he made them mostly forgettable by almost never making eye contact with anyone.

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW OF THE INNOCENT:
Once again, David Baldacci has a winner with his latest book, THE INNOCENT. Once again, David Baldacci has a winner with his latest book, THE INNOCENT. Will Robie, a classic professional killer is an intriguing hero who painstakingly plans out his assignments and has no problem eliminating the real villains. He works for the US Government in special cases. However, this time Robie is troubled when his assignment is to take out a divorced woman who doesn’t seem to be a danger to anyone and so refuses it. When Robie sees her in her bedroom with her young son, he is sure he could never have gone through with the assignment. In a split second, however, a sniper kills the woman and her son right before Robie’s eyes. Robie follows his backup plan and races to the bus station for his escape as he realizes he is probably a target as well.

Upon leaving the scene, Robie becomes involved with a teenage girl, Julie, who is on the run,  having witnessed her parents being murdered. With her life in danger, Robie decides to help her and the mystery really takes off with the twists and turns that exemplify part of what makes Baldacci the best selling author that he is. Robie and Julie wind up involved in helping the FBI with these murders, and the page turning moves up a notch. As I listened to the audio book, I kept changing my mind about how the story would end. One thing I know now that I finished THE INNOCENT is that Baldacci has a great new character in Will Robie and I hope to read about him in a future book from the author. If you are a fan of the Baldacci thrillers, you won’t want to miss this one.

I've read a couple of the Camel Club books, and I would be curious how easy it is to keep up with the action with an audio book! Thanks for the chance to win!

Looks like this book has a very intriguing main character...a man strong enough to be a hitman, but gentle enough to help a teen-ager in need. We're always looking for good audio books, and this sound like a great one.
