SOME SPECIAL SAMPLE ARTICLES TO LOOK FOR:
Louis Cole from London, England, has an appetite that defies belief. The daring digester has eaten some of the most disgusting things imaginable for his Internet videos, including 21 live locusts, over 600 wriggling mealworms in one sitting, and one very large and active scorpion—the creature’s stinger was sensibly left on the plate.
Willard Wigan, a sculptor from Birmingham, England, makes amazingly detailed microscopic sculptures, some of which measure just 0.0002 in (0.005 mm) tall—more than three times smaller than the period at the end of this sentence. His figures can be viewed only under a microscope and magnified 400 times. They can fit on a single grain of sand or on the head of a pin, and he has even managed to fit nine camels into the eye of a needle. Now, 97 of his stunning miniature artworks have been bought by Ripley’s Believe It or Not!—and most of them, the result of more than 40 years of painstaking carving, chipping and painting, could fit comfortably together inside a single matchbox.
Brooklyn-based, Polish-born artist Olek spends hundreds of hours covering cars and even people in crochet. In 2010, she wrapped Wall Street’s famous Charging Bull sculpture in crochet. In her most ambitious project yet, she has created an entire crocheted living environment. She covered the floors, walls and all of the furniture in a studio apartment measuring 15 x 14 ft (4.6 x 4.3 m) in bright, acrylic yarn.

MY REVIEW/THOUGHTS:
RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT DOWNLOAD THE WEIRD is the latest collection of amazingly true tales found all around the world that have delighted and entranced readers for years. This year, Ripley’s has given readers an extra bit of fun with new technology. As the title suggests, readers are able to DOWNLOAD THE WEIRD by using an app and pointing to the special scan included in the book.
This is a fun and exciting bonus to the new issue and not only includes the norm that one expects from Ripley’s but also adds videos and extra content. The book itself is still filled with the amazing color photos and artwork that entertain even without the new technology section so please don’t feel you must use the download part if you prefer to enjoy this year’s book as usual.
From the always favorite person with long nails…as in 5 inch TOENAILS to the guy who set his record by putting on 211 pairs of underwear (guess he doesn’t need to check luggage), to the always useful tiny magnets inserted in your fingertips so you can pick up metal, and of course, who doesn‘t love a giant spider made of scissors, this year’s edition does not disappoint. With the new technology, RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT DOWNLOAD THE WEIRD is sure to be a hit again this year!

Take care,

These types of books were always so popular when I volunteered in the elementary library!
