LET'S GET COZY! CLOCHE AND DAGGER: A PREVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

GIVEAWAY ENDED
CLOCHE AND DAGGER
  A Hat Shop Mystery
BY JEAN McKINLAY
ABOUT THE BOOK:
An all-new series from New York Times bestselling author Jenn McKinlay.

Not only is Scarlett Parker’s love life in the loo—as her British cousin Vivian Tremont would say—it’s also gone viral with an embarrassing video. So when Viv suggests Scarlett leave Florida to lay low in London, she hops on the next plane across the pond. Viv is the proprietor of Mims’s Whims, a ladies’ hat shop on Portobello Road bequeathed to both cousins by their beloved grandmother, and she wants Scarlett to finally join her in the millinery business.

But a few surprises await Scarlett in London. First, she is met at the airport not by Viv, but by her handsome business manager, Harrison Wentworth. Second, Viv—who has some whims of her own—seems to be missing. No one is too concerned about the unpredictable Viv until one of her posh clients is found dead wearing the cloche hat Viv made for her—and nothing else. Is Scarlett’s cousin in trouble? Or is she in hiding?

AN EXCERPT FROM CLOCHE AND DAGGER:
Chapter One

“Scarlett Elizabeth Parker, put down the MoonPie and listen to me,” Vivian Tremont ordered.

I held my cell phone away from my ear and frowned at it. How could my cousin who was almost five thousand miles away and in another country know I was eating a MoonPie? I put it down on my coffee table and swallowed the bite of cookie, marshmallow and chocolate I’d just taken.

“I’m not eating a MoonPie,” I said. Technically, it was not a lie since I had just put it down.

“Oh, please, I know you, pet,” Vivian said in her crisp British way. “You always eat MoonPies when you’re upset.”

“How’s business?” I asked. I had learned in my twenty seven years of knowing her that a change of subject was the only way to throw Viv of track.

“Not good because I’m too busy worrying about you,” she returned. Obviously, she was not to be thwarted today. “Now, here’s what I think you should do.”

Viv paused to take a deep breath and I thought about how much I disliked any sentence that had “you should” in it. Still, she was winding up for what sounded like it would be a lengthy monologue, so I decided to make use of the time by finishing my MoonPie. ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Pseudonym for Lucy Lawrence.

Pseudonym: Josie Belle.
Jenn McKinlay is what is known as a dessert-freakosaurus. She has been known to eat leftover birthday cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the frozen top tier of her wedding cake didn’t stand a chance of seeing its first anniversary. Luckily, her husband is more of a salt guy. Since the arrival of the hooligans (her sons), she has honed her culinary skills to include cupcakes and has baked and frosted cupcakes into the shape of cats, mice and outerspace aliens to name just a few. Writing a mystery series based upon one of her favorite food groups (cupcakes) is as enjoyable as licking the beater and she can’t wait to whip up the next one. She is the author of another mystery series under the name Lucy Lawrence and lives in Scottsdale, Arizona with her musician husband Chris, their two sons, two cats, one dog and one fish.

I have been on a British kick lately, so the London setting really works for me. Also, the Moon Pie sounded good.....

I wonder where Viv is hiding? Is there maybe a little romance with Harrison Wentworth? I'd like to find out who killed the client and find the other answers, too.

I am intrigued by the entire conversation. I want to know what has upset Scarlet so much that she feels the need to dive into a Moon Pie, and I want to know what scheme Viv has cooked up!
