ABOUT THE AUDIO BOOK:
Thom and Jennifer Harlow are the perfect couple, with three perfect children. They maybe two of the biggest mega movie stars in the world, but they're also great parents, philanthropists and just all-around good people.

When they disappear without a word from their ranch, facts are hard to find. They live behind such a high wall of security and image control that even world-renowned Private Investigator Jack Morgan can't get to the truth. But as Jack keeps probing, secrets sprout thick and fast--and the world's golden couple may emerge as hiding behind a world of desperation and deception that the wildest reality show couldn't begin to unveil. Murder is only the opening scene. - See more at: http://www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/james-patterson/private-la/9780316211123/#sthash.6PDEwU2z.dpuf

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:
James Patterson is back with another “Private” book. This one, PRIVATE L.A., written with Mark Sullivan, is one I liked. The others in this Private series have not quite been up to par for my tastes, but this one held my attention and was an enjoyable and quick read. PRIVATE L.A is Patterson’s usual suspenseful story that includes loads of action while allowing the story to move effortlessly along. Although not a huge fan of the Jack Morgan character before, he held my interest much more in PRIVATE L.A., and Justine Smith’s role was expanded and given more depth so I really got caught up in her character.

As always, Patterson has several story lines running through the novel, and fans know to watch to see when and how they will entwine. There are two major narratives and the one with the perfect Hollywood couple reminded me of Brad and Angelina. PRIVATE L.A.’s couple are well liked in Hollywood, involved in many charities, and have three adopted children. When the popular family disappears, Morgan is called in with his Private Group to help solve the mystery. The second major theme involves a serial type killer who calls himself No Prisoners. The trail of death he has left behind doesn’t seem to have any rhyme or reason to relate one case to the other. The Mayor and his Police Chief want this guy caught and so have also gotten in touch with Morgan to get to the bottom of this quickly.

It is these two major mysteries that propel the action and give readers something to sink their teeth into. I listened to this one on audio and thoroughly enjoyed it. I find more and more that audio books are great relaxation and also give my eyes a rest from all the reading and writing I do. If you haven’t tried audio books before, James Patterson and Mark Sullivan’s PRIVATE L. A. would be a wonderful thriller to start with!

I still can't believe I haven't started this series yet. I am so far behind on my TBR list. Since James Patterson is one of my favorite authors, I know I will like it.

I do love a good James Patterson story no matter who he teams up with. Mark Sullivan is a good co-writer. I'd love to give this a listen.
