ARE YOU LISTENING? DAY"
I AM EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE TODAY'S
AUDIO BOOK CHOICE.....

GIVEAWAY ENDED
MEAN STREAK
Read by Jonathan Davis
BY SANDRA BROWN

ABOUT THE AUDIO BOOK:
From #1 New York Times best-selling author Sandra Brown comes a heart-pounding story of survival, that takes the age-old question, "Does the end justify the means?" and turns it on its head.

Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her.

While police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce," Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won't even tell her his name. She's determined to escape him, and willing to take any risks necessary to survive.

Unexpectedly, however, the two have a dangerous encounter with people who adhere to a code of justice all their own. At the center of the dispute is a desperate young woman whom Emory can't turn her back on, even if it means breaking the law. Wrong becomes right at the hands of the man who strikes fear, but also sparks passion.

As her husband's deception is revealed, and the FBI closes in on her captor, Emory begins to wonder if the man with no name is, in fact, her rescuer from those who wish her dead - and from heartbreak.

Combining the nail-biting suspense and potent storytelling that has made Sandra Brown one of the world's best loved authors, MEAN STREAK is a wildly compelling novel about love, deceit, and the choices we must make in order to survive.

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:
In Sandra Brown's latest thriller, MEAN STREAK, she has outdone herself! I had read about this book and was so excited for it to come out that I had it on audio book the hour it was released. Were it not for everyday life interfering, I would have listened to it straight through. To tell the truth, I am glad that I didn't as it allowed me to stretch out the enjoyment of this exciting book. Brown has woven a tale that not only will keep you turning pages and keep you guessing, but the surprises as well as puzzlements NEVER seem to end. With intoxicating and superbly developed characters, MEAN STREAK moves from one thrilling shock to another.

Dr. Emory Charbonneau, dedicated pediatrician and sincere supporter for charities and local causes, is training for a marathon that she has organized as a fund raiser. She is very serious about her training which is something she and her husband Jeff often quarrel over. As readers quickly find out, Jeff is certainly on the opposite spectrum from Emory when it comes to likability. With tensions at home rather high, Emory welcomes a weekend off so that she can go to the nearby remote mountain area for some endurance training for the upcoming race. She also hopes that she can clear her mind to work out some of her marital issues. Jeff argues with her about going, but is honestly delighted to have more free time for the affair he is currently involved in.

As promised, Sandra Brown goes full steam ahead when Emory is knocked out while on the isolated trail she is training on in the mountains. Someone for sure does not want to see her cross the finish line, leaving her in the frigid weather to die. Enter the mystery man who carries Emory to his log cabin higher up and off the main trails to care for her, or is that really what he is doing? Emory can't imagine what has happened and from the moment she comes to, she is suspicious of this stranger. He is seemingly taking good care of her, but also has his mysterious ways that she doesn't trust. Not even revealing his name, Emory feels threatened and scared.

As the weather worsens on the mountains, the storyline involving husband Jeff does as well. Was Jeff involved somehow in Emory's accident? Who is this dark and mysterious stranger in the cabin with Emory? Just when you think the plot is set and you're thinking let's see what will now become of Emory, enter several other key characters who add to, and switch up, the mystery. The local police investigating Emory's disappearance when Jeff finally reports her missing; FBI agent Jack Connell who is hunting a man who just may be Emory's "guardian"; the "not-so good old boy" brothers who live nearby where Dr. Charbonneau is being held; and the young sister of those brothers who will play a key role in the plot line.

Will, and should, Emory try to escape on her own? What will come of the odd and ominous relationship developing with the mystery man caring for "Doc"? What part, if any, did Jack really play in Emory's disappearance? MEAN STREAK is a must read for those who love a superb thriller and mystery. It is so good that you really do wish you could read it all over again without knowing all the answers. However, the next best thing is to recommend it highly and then have others to discuss Sandra Brown's amazing MEAN STREAK with!

Before looking at her website, I didn't even know that she writes historical fiction. I would love to read Rainwater which is set during the Great Depression.
