Following in the footsteps of VanLiere's much loved series, The Christmas Hope, THE CHRISTMAS LIGHT is set in a small town and revolves around five people, each dealing with their own personal problems. VanLiere's characters are always realistically portrayed and bring readers into their lives by learning of their struggles. While attempting to deal with their problems in their own ways, they all come together over a somewhat untraditional Christmas Nativity Pageant. There they find hope and love can be attained when they stay strong and brave. Their interaction leads to some poignant as well as humorous moments, especially with a couple of characters.
Although The Christmas Light is fairly predictable, it is a nice change for me to read a light and inspirational story. I always love to read holiday books around Christmas and Donna VanLiere never disappoints.
