ABOUT THE BOOK:
A secret worth killing for.
A woman with no past.
An act of treason that changed America

#1 bestselling author Brad Meltzer returns with
THE HOUSE OF SECRETS

When Hazel Nash was six years old, her father taught her: mysteries need to be solved. He should know. Hazel's father is Jack Nash, the host of America's favorite conspiracy TV show, The House of Secrets.

Even as a child, she loved hearing her dad's tall tales, especially the one about a leather book belonging to Benedict Arnold that was hidden in a corpse.

Now, years later, Hazel wakes up in the hospital and remembers nothing, not even her own name. She's told she's been in a car accident that killed her father and injured her brother. But she can't remember any of it, because of her own traumatic brain injury. Then a man from the FBI shows up, asking questions about her dad-and about his connection to the corpse of a man found with an object stuffed into his chest: a priceless book that belonged to Benedict Arnold.

Back at her house, Hazel finds guns that she doesn't remember owning. On her forehead, she sees scars from fights she can't recall. Most important, the more Hazel digs, the less she likes the person she seems to have been.

Trying to put together the puzzle pieces of her past and present, Hazel Nash needs to figure out who killed this man-and how the book wound up in his chest. The answer will tell her the truth about her father, what he was really doing for the government-and who Hazel really is. Mysteries need to be solved. Especially the ones about yourself.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
Brad Meltzer is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Inner CircleThe Book of Fate, and eight other bestselling thrillers including The Tenth Justice, The First Counsel, The Millionaires, The Book of Fate, and The President’s Shadow. His newest book is The House of Secrets.

In addition to his fiction, Brad is one of the only authors to ever have books on the bestseller list for Non-Fiction (History Decoded), Advice (Heroes for My Son and Heroes for My Daughter), Children’s Books (I Am Amelia Earhart and I Am Abraham Lincoln) and even comic books (Justice League of America), for which he won the prestigious Eisner Award.

He is also the host of Brad Meltzer’s Lost History on H2 and Brad Meltzer’s Decoded on the History Channel. The Hollywood Reporter recently put him on their list of Hollywood’s 25 Most Powerful Authors.
For sure, it’s tough to find anyone being so successful in so many different mediums of the popular culture. But why does Brad thrive in all these different professions? His belief that ordinary people change the world. It is that core belief that runs through every one of his projects.

His newest thriller,  The House of Secrets, is about the host of America’s favorite conspiracy TV show. When he’s murdered, his daughter has to solve the crime — and quickly realizes that all the secret stories her father told her growing up were real. Yes, it’s full of secret history, including the coolest story you’ve ever heard about George Washington and Benedict Arnold. And yes, Brad is already working on his next thriller.

His illustrated children’s books I Am Amelia Earhart and I Am Abraham Lincoln were written for his own children, to give them better heroes to look up to. Try them. You won’t believe how inspired you and your family will be. The next in the series will be I am George Washington and I am Jane Goodall (September).

His other non-fiction books, Heroes for My Son and Heroes for My Daughter, are collections of heroes – from Jim Henson to Sally Ride — that he’s been working on since the day his kids were born and is on sale now, as well as History Decoded: The 10 Greatest Conspiracies of All Time.

He’s also one of the co-creators of the TV show, Jack & Bobby.

Tod Goldberg is the author of several novels, including Gangsterland, a finalist for the Hammett Prize; Living Dead Girl, a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize; and the popular Burn Notice series. He lives in Southern California where he directs the Low Residency MFA in Creative Writing & Writing for the Performing Arts at UC Riverside. You can follow him on Twitter and Instagram @todgoldberg or visit him daily at Facebook.com/todgoldberg.

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:
I will admit it...I am a huge, crazy fan of Brad Meltzer! I am getting my books today (I ordered the audio and the hardcover) so obviously can't give you my review at this point. I will tell you that you can read the first chapter if you go to Brad's website HERE.  I am sure that will then send you straight to your local bookstore. Brad has a way of grabbing you on the first page and then never letting go...thus the reason I also got the audio so I can read the book and when my eyes are tired (or I am forced to do something else) I can listen and still keep going.

Listening to Brad speak when he came to Dallas was so interesting as this man knows everyone and has access to places especially in the government that make you believe every word he writes.  He is also very funny!

I also want to note that Brad's children's books are AMAZING! His biographies of real people who are the ones you want your children to look up to are fabulous. My grandson is a huge fan as you can see below and is waiting (hard for a recent "kindergarten graduate" to wait this long) for these next two that will be out in September. Do watch for my review that will be out at some point but by then you will have read your own copy, no doubt! Enjoy THE HOUSE OF SECRETS and don't forget about all of Brad Meltzer's other fine work.

I already feel for Hazel, waking up with amnesia in the hospital and not even knowing your name would be scary. I like the author's books, they are truly page turners.

The book sounds exciting. Hazel's father sounds like he led a very interesting life before he was killed in the accident. Too bad he passed it off as stories. But, to hide a book inside of a corpse??? Odd. And, why?
