BINGO BRUNCH FAVORITES
*PAULA DEEN'S
SAVANNAH STYLE
*FAT WITCH BROWNIES
*MARY MAC'S TEA ROOM
ABOUT PAULA DEEN'S SAVANNAH STYLE:
With its lush gardens, stately town houses, and sprawling plantations, Savannah is the epitome of old Southern style, and who better to give you the grand tour than Paula Deen, the city’s most famous resident and anointed Queen of Southern Cuisine?

In this gorgeous, richly illustrated book, Paula Deen shares a full year of Southern living. Whether it’s time to put out your best china and make a real fuss, or you’re just gathering for some sweet tea on the porch at dusk, Savannah style is about making folks feel welcome in your home. With the help of decorator and stylist Brandon Branch, you’ll learn how to bring a bit of Southern charm into homes from Minnesota to Mississippi. For each season, there are tips on decorating and entertaining. In the spring, you’ll learn how to make the most of your outdoor spaces, spruce up your porch, and make your garden inviting. In the summer, things get more casual with a dock party. Sleeping spaces, including, of course, the sleeping porch, are the focal point of this chapter. In the fall, cooler weather brings a return to more formal entertaining in the dining room, and in the winter, attention returns to the hearth, as Paula and her neighbors put out their best silver and show you how they celebrate the holidays.

Paula
loves getting a peek at her neighbors’ parlors, so she’s included photographs of some of Savannah’s grandest homes. From the vast grounds of Lebanon Plantation to the whimsically restored cottages on Tybee Island, you’ll see the unique blend of old-world elegance and laid-back hospitality that charmed Paula the moment she arrived from Albany, Georgia, with nothing but two hundred dollars and a pair of mouths to feed. And she isn’t shy about giving you a window into her own world, either. From her farmhouse kitchen to her luxurious powder room, you’ll see how Paula lives when she’s not in front of the camera.

Packed with advice and nostalgia, Paula Deen’s Savannah Style makes it easy to bring gracious Southern living to homes north and south of the Mason-Dixon Line. To read my review or more about Paula, visit my earlier post HERE!

ABOUT FAT WITCH BROWNIES by PATRICIA HELDING:
At long last, the owner of New York City's legendary Fat Witch Bakery shares her top-secret recipes for decadent and delicious brownies, blondies, and bars. Patricia Helding's rich, intensely chocolatey Fat Witch brownie is a New York obsession, an internet sensation, and arguably the very best brownie to be found on the planet. Unlike other bakeries that feature a range of desserts, Fat Witch, launched by Helding in 1998, specializes only in brownies--baking and selling over 2,000 each day. In Fat Witch Brownies, Helding showcases for the first time her favorite spins on the classic chocolate brownie with creations like the Banana Bread Brownie and the Breakfast Brownie, and she expands her repertoire even further with recipes for other scrumptious bar-shaped confections.

With over 50 recipes that can be baked in the same 9 x 9-inch pan and require fewer than 10 ingredients, Helding shows that baking from scratch is neither expensive nor time-consuming. All of her recipes include ingredients from local grocery stores, and are ready to serve in one hour or less. Beginning with tips on the proper tools, timing, and techniques, continuing with five chapters of recipes, and finishing with fabulous frostings, Fat Witch Brownies allows readers to explore the versatility and richness of brownies and bars and create the incredible desserts in their very own kitchens that have made Helding's bakery famous. To read about the author and see some yummy recipes, go HERE to my original post.
ABOUT MARY MAC'S TEA ROOM by JOHN FERRELL:
In Mary Mac's Tea Room, author and owner John Ferrell brings together over 100 classic recipes from this venerable institution of Southern comfort food.

When Mary Mac's opened in 1945, it was one of 16 tea rooms around Atlanta, Georgia. More than 60 years later, it stands alone in carrying on the tradition of bringing great Southern cooking to everyone from blue collar workers to celebrities.

Now you can bring home many of the restaurant's famed recipes, along with richly illustrated photography, old menus, postcards, and artwork from its magnificent history.
MORE ABOUT THE RESTAURANT:
Mary Mac’s Tea Room doors first opened in 1945 when Mary McKenzie decided to use her good Southern cooking to make money in the tough post-World War II days. In those days, a woman  couldn’t just open up a restaurant, so many female proprietors used the more genteel Southern name of “Tea Room.” Ponce de Leon Avenue sported clanking trolley cars, the Atlanta Crackers Baseball team and tents serving ice cold watermelons. There were many ornate movie theaters like the Fox Theatre just down the street. And there were at least 16 other Tea Rooms around intown Atlanta with Mary Mac’s being the only one of them left. To finish reading about the restaurant AND to see some delicious recipes, go HERE for my original post.

Thanks to Mary Mac's Tea Room owner/author, John Ferrell, I also have a souvenir T-Shirt from this Atlanta landmark to give away with the book! To find out more about this amazing place, visit their website HERE. The t-shirt they donated for my blogiversary is adorable...see the picture below!

I would love all the cook books... why not, since I collect them... However, if I had to choose just one, the Paula Deen cookbook would be that one.

I suppose any of the cookbooks would help me to learn cooking southern style but I do love to watch Paula; she's fun as well as educational.

I was imported to the south from California so I have a lot to learn. I'm not even sure which recipe I need the most. I do know how to make real southern corn bread, but that's about it.

I'd love to see if Paula's Fried Macaroni and Cheese recipe is in the book. I saw her fix that on her show and I was fascinated. I mean really, "fried macaroni and cheese"???

I would choose Paula Deen because I secretly think I was a Southern cook in a previous life.

I'd pick Mary Mac's Tea Room. I can get some of Paula's on TV and although I love brownies, if I could only pick one I'd want more variety.
