A Coffehouse Mystery
BY CLEO COYLE
NOW OUT IN MASS MARKET PAPERBACK!
ABOUT THE BOOK:
The national bestselling author of Roast Mortem serves readers a fresh Coffeehouse mystery.

Clare's Village Blend coffee beans are being used to create a new java love potion: a "Mocha Magic Coffee," billed as an aphrodisiac. The product, expected to rake in millions, will be sold exclusively on Aphrodite's Village, one of the most popular online communities for women.

But at its launch, one of the website's editors is murdered. Clare is convinced a bitter killer wants the secret formula. Can she catch who's gone loco for mocha?

This tenth entry in Cleo Coyle's bestselling Coffeehouse Mystery series includes a special bonus section of delectable chocolate recipes!

CLEO'S COFFEEHOUSE RECIPE:
A definite bonus to this wonderful cozy series is the recipe section that Cleo Coyle includes. Here is one of her specialty coffee drink recipes she calls...
COPY CAT FRAPPS
Cleo Coyle’s Chilly Cleoccino!
(Iced Cappuccino or Mocha)

Serves: This recipe will make one 8-ounce serving. For a larger drink, or to serve more people, you can easily double, triple, or quadruple it.

INGREDIENTS:
1/3 cup coffee (4 coffee ice cubes)
1/3 cup milk (low fat is fine)
2 teaspoons sugar (or more if you like your drinks sweeter)
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder (for a mocha) whipped cream (optional)

DIRECTIONS:
Step 1: Fill an ice cube tray with leftover coffee and freeze.
Step 2: Remove four coffee ice cubes (per 8-ounce serving) and place in blender.
Step 3: Add milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and (optional) cocoa for an iced mocha frappé.
Step 4: Pulse the blender to chop the coffee ice cubes into fine particles. You can create a very icy drink with small ice chips (like a frozen margarita) or you can run the blender full speed until the mixture is completely liquefied yet still cold and frothy. The drink is delicious either way and a great use for your leftover Joe.

To finish, pour this frosty refresher into a glass mug, top with whipped cream and…Drink with joy ~ Cleo Coyle

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW: Fairly new to Cozy Mysteries, this is my first book of Cleo Coyle’s Coffeehouse Mystery Series. However, it was such an enjoyable, fun read, I think it won’t be the last. It easily stood on its own because Coyle introduces the characters with great description and you are immediately part of her Coffeehouse blend of human BEANS! When Village Blend Coffee unites with Aphrodite’s Village, a well-known women’s website, their purpose is to launch a new blend of coffee. Its name is Mocha Magic and is supposed to act as an aphrodisiac. This love potion actually works better than they thought and although it would seem to be a good thing, it is really a problem. The popularity of the blend actually becomes dangerous. At the launch of this new blend, one of Aphrodite’s Village's editors is murdered!

The main character of MURDER BY MOCHA is Clare who basically runs Village Blend Coffee and when things boil over, she calls in her “gang” to solve the mocha mystery. She brings a lot of fun to the story and surrounds herself with interesting friends and co-workers. Mike is a policeman and Clare’s boyfriend so naturally a huge help. Matteo is the coffee buyer but also Clare’s ex-husband. Also, the owner of Village Blend is Clare’s former mother-in-law and has a daughter, Joy. Along with the regulars in the Coffee house staff, Clare not only solves this MURDER BY MOCHA but also adds the extra jolt of caffeine in the group that keeps the whole story percolating as pages keep turning. The cream in the coffeehouse mysteries, that something extra for me, is the coffee recipes and yummy things that go well with them. I am sure that “cozy” fans as well as those who enjoy a good, fun mystery will want to join Clare and the gang for an exciting and enjoyable read with MURDER BY MOCHA!

A coffee love potion sounds interesting...not sure if it would work. I do love my coffee and I do love my books so this works for me. Does she include the love potion recipe?
