ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Jessica Knoll has been a senior editor at Cosmopolitan and the articles editor at SELF. She grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and graduated from The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. She lives in New York City with her husband.

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:

Meet Ani FaNelli, the LUCKIEST GIRL ALIVE, and protagonist in Jessica Knoll's debut and best selling novel.  Set in the Big Apple, Ani, a women's magazine editor who is engaged to the wealthy and dapper Luke Harrison, comes across first as pretentious and rather heartless. Ani puts up a tough front in her trend setting clothes, powerful position, and a flashy four-carat engagement ring, thus putting off people who may want to get too close to her. 

However, as the narrative progresses, readers find in Ani an unexpected vulnerability. She had agreed to be part of a documentary based on a tragedy that took place when Ani was a prep school student. At the time, she had no control over her life being sensationalized all over the media. With the film, Ani looks for the truth to come out and finally set herself free from the demons of her past. Little does she know how much an effect this will have on what she thinks is her controlled, flawless life now.

Jessica Knoll presents a character study that calls for readers to decide which Ani do they know? Which Ani are they really reading about? I found myself wondering if I was really supposed to dislike Ani at first. Was there more to her than first presented? There had to be, or did there? As the narrator read on in this amazing audio book, I couldn't stop listening. The twists and turns were enough to keep me listening far into the night. Did I like Ani at the end and was I pleased with how LUCKIEST GIRL ALIVE ended? Obviously, I'll not tell but rather let readers decide.
