ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Elin Hilderbrand made a paper angel ornament in third grade that is still in her family's custody. She celebrates the holidays by making batches of homemade mustard and chive pine nut dip and gifting them to her lucky friends. Her favorite carol is "O Holy Night." The Winter Street Trilogy is her first holiday novels. The following rumors about Elin Hilderbrand are true: She writes her novels longhand, she is a good cook and a terrible gardener, and she is fighting breast cancer. Everything else is up for speculation.

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:

Best selling author Elin Hilderbrand’s WINTER STREET Trilogy ends with this delightful holiday novel, WINTER STORMS. As with the other stories in the trilogy, WINTER STORMS takes place in Nantucket with the Quinn family. I do not think you have to have read the other two books to enjoy this one but it would be great holiday fun if you could. 

Hilderbrand is an expert at drawing readers in by making one feel like you know each of the characters. The Quinn family runs a delightful Inn on Nantucket called Winter Street and Kelley is the head of the family and in this last edition, we find Kelley in poor health and that tends to play a lot into the story. He is still married to Mitzi (who I found to be rather "ditzy" but fun) and remains good friends with his first wife, Margaret, the news anchor for a major television station in New York.

The lives of the children, Patrick, Kevin, Ava, and Bart make up the rest of the story that would seem to go in so many directions but again the author is so skilled as to have them all wind around each other to the delight of this reader. As Christmas Eve nears, storms threaten each of these main characters' lives in one way or another making you turn pages to find out if things will work out for each of them.

I found this to be a quick read and so enjoyed being lost in the holidays with the Quinn family and get my mind off things going on in my own crazy life. If you are like me, reading a good holiday story always helps to launch the Christmas season in a happy and delightful way. WINTER STORMS shouldn't disappoint if that is what you are looking for.
