My dad passed away many years ago, but he was a special man and I still miss him. He was a quiet, hard working man who taught us the value of education (my dad never made anything other than A's all the way through graduate school), the importance of saving money, and the rewards of hard work and giving your best in all you do. He proudly served in the Navy during WWII. When I was a teen, my dad loaned me his car frequently and never complained about it. Although he hardly ever talked about it, my dad was left in a basket on my grandparents' doorstep when he was an infant. I am grateful that his mom gave birth to him and thankful that my grandparents adopted him and raised him to be the great dad that I had.

Hi - I am very proud of my grad this year - she is graduating from 8th grade on Friday - and as she was the president of student council - she gets to give one of the two speeches! And this will be in front of about 1700-2000 people! She is not scared because of the # of people - but she is afraid that she will cry because of it being so final. I told her she couldn't cry - because then I would cry - and I wouldn't be able to film it! She is so ready for high school though!

There are so many special things about my dad! Two of the things that come immediately to mind, are that he loves to learn new things. He wants to know why something works, how it got made, who made it, and why. Another great thing about dear old dad, is that he can make everyone feel special. He can sit down with someone he's just met, and in 10 minutes be the best of buddies. He can always find a mutual interest to talk about. I think that he passed his thirst for learning on to me, and for that, I am so very grateful!

Thanks for another FANTASTIC giveaway.

I am very fortunate to still have my dad in my life! He will be 91 in July. He has lived through the Great Depression, worked since he was 11 years old, served in WWII, and at one point worked three jobs to support our family.
In 2000, dad, my sister and myself had to suffer the loss of our only brother and four months later, our mom! Dad still lives in the home that I grew up in and spends every evening with my sister's family or mine. Please enter me in your fabulous book package giveaway drawing. Many thanks, Cindi

My Dad is special because he grew up in an environment where displays of affection weren't common practice so he showed his family how much he loved us by working hard to make sure we had everythig we needed. It meant he became a career Army soldier even though it wasn't his dream. He served two tours of Veitnam and was decorated numerous times. I am so proud of him!

My husband is both the best Dad and the best Grad. 5 years ago, while
our son was still in college, we both lost our jobs. I got a job where
our son was in college which helped with 1/2 price tuition, but my DH
could not find a job. After 2 years he decided to go back to college. He
never graduated because he went to Vietnam instead. Well, we got my son
out of college, and my DH graduates Suma Cum Laude with his master's
degree in 4 weeks. Then, he starts his PhD program. He will be 66 when
he finishes he PhD and will begin teaching at a University. He has also
done all the housekeeping, cooking and errands while he has been in
school and I have been supporting us. I can't tell you how proud of him
I am.

My dad died in a house fire with my sister when I was 13. I was always the "tom boy" of the two of us girls, Tara was more like mom... I was more like dad. Odd how things end up, where Tara went with dad, and I grew up with mom...
I feel I missed some of the better years with my dad and I wish I had him through all the years and even now.
I am grateful for the time I did have with him and the memories I will always cherish.
