THE MURDER OF KING TUT: GIVEAWAY

GIVEAWAY ENDED
THE MURDER OF
KING TUT

BY
JAMES PATTERSON
AND MARTIN DUGARD

ABOUT THE BOOK:

A secret buried for centuries

Thrust onto Egypt's most powerful throne at the age of nine, King Tut's reign was fiercely debated from the outset. Behind the palace's veil of prosperity, bitter rivalries and jealousy flourished among the Boy King's most trusted advisors, and after only nine years, King Tut suddenly perished, his name purged from Egyptian history. To this day, his death remains shrouded in controversy.

The keys to an unsolved mystery

Enchanted by the ruler's tragic story and hoping to unlock the answers to the 3,000 year-old mystery, Howard Carter made it his life's mission to uncover the Pharaoh's hidden tomb. He began his search in 1907, but encountered countless setbacks and dead-ends before he finally, uncovered the long-lost crypt.

The clues point to murder

Now, in The Murder of King Tut, James Patterson and Martin Dugard dig through stacks of evidence--X-rays, Carter's files, forensic clues, and stories told through the ages--to arrive at their own account of King Tut's life and death. The result is an exhilarating true crime tale of intrigue, passion, and betrayal that casts fresh light on the oldest mystery of all.

James Patterson published his first thriller in 1976 and since then has become one of the best-known and bestselling writers of all time, with more than 140 million copies of his books sold worldwide. He is the author of the two most popular detective series of the past decade, featuring Alex Cross and the Women's Murder Club, and he has written numerous other #1 bestsellers. He lives in Florida.

Martin Dugard
is the
New York Times bestselling author of such nonfiction titles as Chasing Lance, The Last Voyage of Columbus, Farther Than Any Man, Knockdown, and Into Africa. He has written for Esquire, Outside, Sports Illustrated, and GQ. Dugard lives in Orange County, CA, with his wife and three sons.

I enjoy his fiction but haven't yet read any of his non-fiction (to be honest, until now, I didn't realize he wrote non-fiction!)

+ I'm a follower

+ writing the "P" was a little challenging (it looks like a bird or a duck flying!) but the "a" and "m" were fairly straightforward. Don't know if I'd ever be able to tell them apart later though!

LOL!! Walking like an Egyptian was one of the ways I could always get my son to laugh when he was pitching a fit in public. And I didn't care where I was. Just picture, Atlanta, GA Perimeter Mall(one of the large Fancy ones) me walking with a 6 year old pitching a fit, while I am Walking like an Egyptian down the middle of the Mall Laughing like a hyena! Worked every time.

Just the thought of walking like an Egyptian cracks me up. When my son was little it was one of the best ways to get him to laugh when he was pitching a fit. Picture this. Me, with a screaming 6 year old, in Perimeter mall in Atlanta, GA (One of the fancy one's) Walking like and Egyptian while singing the song and laughing hysterically down the middle of the mall! Worked every time. Did it again just for old times sake.

Your review has made me want to win this book even more! Even if I don't win, I will definitely be getting this book. I have always been fascinated with the Egyptian culture (I did my high school term paper on ancient Egytptian burial customs). My fascination started with King Tut when, at the age of 11, I found a book in the adult section of the library that told about the discovery of his tomb and showed all the treasure, etc. that was found. I've been hooked ever since! Thanks for the great review.

LOL....I just read your review and I am one of those folks that get migraines and flashing things bring them on sometimes so I have learned about the escape button. It works very well!!

This book sounds like it would be great for both Hubby and me. He is a big history buff so he would love to read it knowing it is history, but I am a huge mystery fan, so I would have to read it just to figure out the mystery. We have visited the King Tut exhibit so we have an interest in this anyway. Very good review and I think he took an interesting approach with the 3 time periods. Can't wait to win and read it.

From your review: I just can't believe the Patterson wouldn't have gone to Egypt instead of just doing the "paperwork" research! If I was writing a book like this I would want to go to the foreign country - for research purposes, of course!

Becca said...

Great review! And that isn’t just the eye talking. It sounds interesting how the book takes place in three different time periods instead of just in the time of King Tut. I also like the fact that it reads like a mystery. I like non-fiction but I like exciting non-fiction even more.

What a great review! I like to read non-fiction that reads like a novel, not like some dry recitation of the facts. It's amazing that James Patterson is equally adept at writing fiction & non-fiction and can make both a thrilling read.

Thanks!

I have read your review, and it was wonderful. I find it interesting how Mr. Patterson is able to weave the 3 time periods without any problem. If I was trying to write between 3 time periods it would surely confuse me as well as the reader! LOL! This is definately a book I want to read!!!

Writing my name in eygptian wasn't so hard..however the walking like an eygptian was a bit of a comedy....sitting here at my desk by myself, if someone would have walked in and seen me doing this, would be a quit admit to the looney bin! :-)
