ARE YOU LISTENING? PRIVATE GAMES - AN AUDIO BOOK REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

WELCOME TO BOOKIN' WITH BINGO'S"
ARE YOU LISTENING? DAY"
I AM EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE TODAY'S
AUDIO BOOK CHOICE.....
GIVEAWAY ENDED
PRIVATE GAMES
The Unabridged Audio Book
BY JAMES PATTERSON
& MARK SULLIVAN
 READ BY PAUL PANTING
ABOUT THE BOOK:
On your mark!

Private, the world's most renowned investigation firm, has been commissioned to provide security for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Its agents are the smartest, fastest, and most technologically advanced in the world, and 400 of them have been transferred to London to protect more than 10,000 competitors who represent more than 200 countries.

Get set!

The opening ceremony is hours away when Private investigator and single father of twins, Peter Knight, is called to the scene of a ruthless murder. A high-ranking member of the games' organizing committee has been killed. It's clear to Peter that this wasn't a crime of passion, but one of precise calculation and execution.

Die!

Newspaper reporter Karen Pope receives a letter from a person who calls himself Cronus claiming responsibility for the murders. He promises to restore the Olympics to their ancient glory and to destroy all those who have corrupted the games with lies, corruption, and greed. Immediately, Karen hires Private to examine the letter, and she and Peter uncover a criminal genius who won't stop until he's completely destroyed the modern games. "America's #1 storyteller" (Forbes) delivers an exhilarating, action-packed thriller that brings the splendor and emotion of the Olympics to a wildly powerful climax.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
James Patterson has had more New York Times bestsellers than any other writer, ever, according to Guinness World Records. Since his first novel won the Edgar Award in 1977, James Patterson's books have sold more than 230 million copies. He is the author of the Alex Cross novels, the most popular detective series of the past twenty-five years, including Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. Mr. Patterson also writes the bestselling Women's Murder Club novels, set in San Francisco, and the top-selling New York detective series of all time, featuring Detective Michael Bennett. He writes full-time and lives in Florida with his family.

MARK SULLIVAN is the author of eight thrillers, including PRIVATE GAMES, which he co-wrote with James Patterson. He was an Edgar Award finalist, winner of the W.H. Smith award for “Best New Talent,” and his debut novel, THE FALL LINE, was named New York Times Notable Book of the year, a rare honor for a debut. His next novel with Patterson, (PRIVATE BERLIN), launches in June 2012 and his next standalone novel, ROGUE, launches in October 2012. He currently resides in Montana with his family. Read more about Mark Sullivan at his website HERE and his full "Bio" HERE.

ABOUT THE READER:
Paul Panting has narrated numerous audio books and has been featured in many BBC Radio Drama plays and readings. His television credits include Silent Witness, The Jury II, and Inspector Lewis.

AN EXCERPT FROM PRIVATE GAMES:
Prologue
One
WEDNESDAY, JULY 25, 2012, 11:25 P.M.
THERE ARE SUPERMEN and superwomen who walk this earth.
I'm quite serious about that, and you can take me literally. Jesus Christ, for example, was a spiritual superman, as were Martin Luther and Gandhi. Julius Caesar was superhuman as well. So were Genghis Khan, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Adolf Hitler.

Think about scientists like Aristotle, Galileo, Albert Einstein, and J. Robert Oppenheimer. Consider artists like da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Vincent van Gogh, my favorite, who was so superior it drove him insane. Above all, don't forget athletically superior beings like Jim Thorpe, Babe Didrikson Zaharias, and Jesse Owens; Larisa Latynina and Muhammad Ali; Mark Spitz and Jackie Joyner-Kersee.

Humbly, I include myself on this superhuman spectrum as well—and deservedly so, as you shall soon see.

In short, people like me are born for great things. We seek adversity. We seek to conquer. We seek to break through all limits—spiritually, politically, artistically, scientifically, and physically. We seek to right wrongs in the face of monumental odds. And we're willing to suffer for greatness, willing to engage in dogged effort and endless preparation with the fervor of a martyr—which, to my mind, is an exceptional trait in any human being at any age.

At the moment I have to admit that I'm certainly feeling exceptional, standing here in the garden of Sir Denton Marshall, a sniveling, corrupt old bastard if there ever was one.

Look at him on his knees, with his back to me and my knife at his throat.

To finish reading this excerpt, visit James Patterson's website HERE, or go HERE to hear an audio excerpt by Reader Paul Panting.

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:
James Patterson’s newest audio book, PRIVATE GAMES, authored with Mark Sullivan and read by Paul Panting, at first had me somewhat confused. I had recently read and reviewed Patterson’s PRIVATE: #1 SUSPECT (see my review and giveaway HERE) and some familiar names popped up right away. The reader's voice was different, of course, but it threw me because PRIVATE GAMES seemed as if it might be a continuation, or maybe about the same thing. Well, indeed, the "Private" in both books is the same exclusive global investigative firm, “Private International“, but the story is totally new; VERY NEW, in fact, and much different.

PRIVATE GAMES is a fast moving, mystery that seems as if it is drawn straight from today’s headlines what with terrorist attacks around the world, and with the Olympic Games scheduled in London this summer. The audio held my attention and I found it to be geared to what I would say would be a more informed audience. I had to pay close attention but that was easy to do. The "villain" tells his story in the famous Patterson short chapters, while the other chapters revert back to the story told about the main characters. This villain in PRIVATE GAMES proclaims that his goal is to see to it that the Olympic Games are brought back to their former glory. He swears to defeat all those who he feels have ruined the games with their corruption and selfishness. When Reader Paul Panting is the voice of the villain, he sounds so different and certainly sinister. This is THE scariest of James Patterson's books I have read in a very long time.

PRIVATE GAMES is a knockout and one that I say is well worth James Patterson and mystery fans' time and attention. I listened to it in about 3 days but that was because life kept interrupting me. The characters of Peter Knight, lead investigator for PRIVATE and Karen Pope, newspaper reporter, are so well developed that you really feel you know them. I especially thought Knight was a superbly written, multi-faceted personality. I would hope that more of this series by Patterson and Sullivan would be out soon. Not one to miss!
