6th YEAR BLOGIVERSARY GIVEAWAY

GIVEAWAY ENDED
...for your loyalty, kindness, and patience as I have made my way these past six years
in the crazy world of blogging!

When I began BOOKIN' WITH BINGO, I honestly didn't even know what a blog was, but decided to try to create one. I used my childhood nickname of Bingo (that doesn't have anything to do with the game) and went from there. As a teacher and one who believes that reading is what opens so many doors for all of us, I wanted to share my love of reading with others on this blog. I went from having no idea how to get someone to give me a book to review or promote, to having to refuse requests because the amount of books I receive is unbelievable. My first post seen HERE is a bit different from what I now do. I began blogging when I was still teaching but got more involved when I retired. When we moved from Florida to Texas to be near our son, my time suddenly was taken up with the delight of a grandchild, and now there are two!
As you have seen, I now haven't reviewed as much as I would like but do enjoy promoting the much loved Cozy Mysteries, and my new favorite, audio books. In this next year, I will probably post less than before as we are busy with the kids and life itself, but do hope you all will sign up for email so you will know what Bingo is doing and when a new post goes up. I thank you all so much and am posting today about a fun Bookin' with Bingo Blogiversary Giveaway. It will end on February 3, with a new post I am involved with already, and all current winners will be announced, I hope, on February 4! So, I hope this giveaway is something you will enjoy and try to win and that I will see you back here on February 3, after a short break.

2015 OSCAR
Nominations Based on Books!
NOT THAT OSCAR....THIS ONE!
This year, I have taken a great interest in the OSCAR Nominations as we have had time, and gift cards, to go see many of them (being retired is great!). I have my favorite, but won't tell just yet. I thought it would be fun to base my 6th BLOGIVERSARY GIVEAWAY on some of the movies nominated that were inspired by from books and the written word.

Of the movies nominated for awards this year, several are based on the written word. “American Sniper” is a film version of the book AMERICAN SNIPER by Chris Kyle and Scott McEwen, while the movie “The Theory of Everything” came from Jane Hawking’s book “TRAVELING TO INFINITY”. The film “The Imitation Game” was based on the Alan Turing biography “ALAN TURING: THE ENIGMA" by Andrew HodgesBest Actress nominee Julianne Moore received her nod for the movie “Still Alice,” based on the book of the same name by Lisa Genova, while Rosamund Pike, another Best Actress nominee, starred in the movie “Gone Girl,” based on the bestselling book by Gillian Flynn. Reese Witherspoon’s Best Actress nomination came for the movie “Wild,” which was based on the book by Cheryl Strayed

So there are JUST six of the possible OSCAR winners that owe their movie to a good book and my Blogiversary Giveaway is for one of those books. If you are chosen the winner, you may choose any one of the books from these films and I will send you a copy in book, or ebook form, (your choice).

Wow American Sniper would be GREAT! I wonder if it's just me ... but I find that very few movies bring to life the story as good as the book! The only one that I think comes close is the Wizard of OZ ... on second thought ... the book is better. Maybe it's because through reading my mind goes through painting the scenes just the way I would want them to be! Anyway ... I had to add that! Thanks so much Karen for all that you do and this Blogiversary is amazing!

Happy Blogoversary!!! 6 years...that is just wonderful!

I would love to read Still Alice. I have had the book on my wish list for a while now and now that the movie is out I am excited to read the book and compare to the movie.

Thanks!

I saw Gone Girl (I read the book first and then watched the movie for comparison) and while I loved the book more I still really enjoyed the movie. Very twisted and entertaining!

I am really rooting for The Imitation Game to win! I love all the actors in it and love movies that are centered around WWII and code breaking.

I would like to win Alan Turing: The Enigma because I think he was a much underappreciated person in our country's history. I like to imagine what he could have accomplished in a longer lifetime.

I have seen Gone Girl and found it entertaining---but it just doesn't seem to have an Oscar-worthy subject in my opinion.

I would like to see Julienne Moore win for Still Alice since I think trying to portray the feelings of someone in Alice's situation would be very difficult.

I would to read The Enigma by Alan Turing for two reasons. I have always been fascinated by cryptography history. I have read some about the American cryptography during WWI and WWII. I had an uncle who learned Arabic in WWII so that the secret messages could be figured out. (Don't know if they were coded. Also I am very impressed by Alan Turing's achievments, cracking the code of the German Enigma machine (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/military/how-enigma-works.html)and also for being a thinker beyond his times.

I would love if Still Alice won. Julianne Moore is a great actress and the book is wonderful. I read it when it first came out and have all of the books by Lisa Genova on my wish list. I thought she really understood what it would be like to have alzheimers or dementia. She is well qualified to write those book because she has a PHd for Neuroscience from Harvard University. This film could go a long way for removing the stigma of dementia.

Once again, I have seen NONE of the movies up for best picture yet this year! There's still a little time and I think my best bet will be getting my hubby to American Sniper.

I would love to read the book Wild. A friend of mine had read it from her Kindle. It made an impression on her and said I would like the book. Sounds interesting that to follow this woman's who hiked more than a thousand miles and read how it changed her.

I don't know about which specific film I'd like to win, since I haven't seen any of them. My health keeps me out of the theaters. But I really would like to see Julianne Moore win, I've been a fan since she played those twins on As the World Turns!
