MIDNIGHT FUGUE
A Dalziel and Pascoe Mystery
by REGINALD HILL
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Reginald Hill, award-winning author of The Price of Butcher’s Meat and Death Comes for the Fat Man, returns with Midnight Fugue, a riveting new crime novel featuring Yorkshire coppers Dalziel and Pascoe as they tackle the case of a detective who went missing seven years ago under suspicious circumstances. Taking place within the space of a single October Sunday and alternating between Mid-Yorkshire and London, Midnight Fugue is a riveting, complex mystery that builds to a dramatic, twisting conclusion.
It starts with a phone call to Superintendent Dalziel from an old friend asking for help. But where it ends is a very different story.
Gina Wolfe has come to mid Yorkshire in search of her missing husband, believed dead. Her fiancé, Commander Mick Purdy of the Met, thinks Dalziel should be able to take care of the job. What none of them realize is how events set in motion decades ago will come to a violent head on this otherwise ordinary summer's day.
A Welsh tabloid journalist senses the story he's been chasing for years may have finally landed in his lap. A Tory MP's secretary suspects her boss's father has an unsavory history that could taint his son's prime ministerial ambitions. The ruthless entrepreneur in question sends two henchmen out to make sure the past stays in the past. And the lethal pair dispatched have some awkward secrets of their own.
Four stories, two mismatched detectives trying to figure it all out, and twenty-four hours in which to do it: Dalziel and Pascoe are about to learn the hard way just how much difference a day makes.Reginald Hill has been widely published both in England and the United States. He received Britain's most coveted mystery writers award, the Cartier Diamond Dagger Award, as well as the Golden Dagger for his Dalziel/Pascoe series. He lives with his wife in Cumbria, England.

Halloween has always been associated with the supernatural so reading horror stories is fitting as you read about ghosts, witches, werewolves, vampires, zombies...
I'm dressing up as a Vampiressssss. I won a cool set of chrome fangs a while back. I have a Victorian dress, black pointy toed boots, antique black funeral veil, and black cape.
I love British authors! I'd love to win a copy of this book! Thanks.

+1 I think Halloween is the best time to read/tell scary stories is the atmosphere. Almost all of the them happen in the fall, at night, when it's dark and creepy.
Halloween is the perfect time to read scary stories. Most of the ones I remember as a child took place in the fall. So reading them in the fall just makes them that much better. All I have to do to wonder what it's like the book is to look outside!

+1 My favorite costume from when I was little was a movie star's ghost. We took the traditional sheet over the head and put glamorous make-up all over it. Threw on two or three dozen cheap bangle bracelets and necklaces, long white gloves with a ring on each finger. It was a blast.
Its fun to tell spooky stories around Halloween because its always a little scarier that time of year.

Halloween is one of the coolest holidays and it is always fun to get in the mood by reading an appropriate book. Besides who doesn't like being scared to death?
Huge fan of Reginald Hill this would be great!
Thanks, LooseEnds AT Snet DOT Net

Fingers crossed...LooseEnds At Snet Dot Net
I like mysteries in general, but reading books with more of a halloween flair, such as mysteries, fall, paranormal etc, is a lot of fun. This looks great!

My favorite costume as a kid was a witch outfit my grandmother made me. It had red edging on the cape and I felt very witchy in it!

Halloweeen just lends itself to spookiness and eerie stories. People are always already in the mood for some scary stuff so why not read about it. Really, how many times can you sit through The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown?

I love reading spooky stories. The suspense involved is great. If it gets to scary you don't have to finish it. But, it only gets as scary as your imagination lets it!

It's always fun to read these kind of tales at Halloween. Don't we all want to be a little afraid and also remember what it was like to be a kid and kinda scared?
fourkidsrgreat(at)gmail.com
I don't remember any great costumes as a kid. Mine were always store bought and rather lame. I think that's why I always made all of my kids' costumes.
fourkidsrgreat(at)gmail.com
Reading scary stories around Halloween just feels right because of stories about ghosts and goblins that we grew up with.

I am going to wear fatigues and my boyfriend who is in the reserve is going to paint my face like he has to do his when they are on maneuvers in the woods. He says I'm going to scare the crap out of kids that come to my door for candy lol.

Halloween has always made me in the mood for thinking of spooky things. I think seeing all the decorations makes me want to read about it.

My favorite costume was a clown outfit I had. I never have had a really cool costume!

The costume I remember most vividly from my childhood is an old witch! Ugly mask with pointed chin and mole, hat, black outfit and a broom.

Halloween is the time for witches and goblins, and a time to be scared. What better way than with some creepy stories!

I don't think much about the spooky stuff until I start hearing ghost stories on TV and the radio, then it's time to dig out the spooky books.
