+1 I think this book would help me. No parent is perfect and it is nice to get another perspective.

I would like to read the other side of what happened in Divorce Sucks. I had 2 husbands that had girlfriends and I divorced them both for that reason.

I'd love to ask Mary Jo how she kept her sanity throughout her ordeal. I saw Mary Jo on The Today Show where she mentioned her husband insisted she have a face to face meeting with Tori, after telling her of their affair.

At any time, were you worried about telling so much to the public about your marriage?

I would ask her how realistic is it to think the pair could put their differences aside for the sake of the children? I have seen some pretty rough divorces and there is no way some of them can..or maybe it is will?

I agree with the author, kids have to make connections with what they read. Educators generall y teach students to make self to text, self to world or text to text connections.

I like this line:Put simply, every child should play an instrument, and parents should make whatever sacrifices are necessary to put a flute, trumpet, guitar, or tuba in their kid's hands.

In her article, Wednesday Martin states that numerous studies verify that high levels of conflict between parents pre- and post-divorce can be emotionally devastating for kids. I most certainly agree with her.

I am amazed at how candid the author of Divorce sucks seems to be. I wonder if she felt much relieved after she wrote the book. I'm certain many women around the world sympathize and relate to her.

+1 I think that it is very interesting as to what he says about every child needs to learn how to play a musical instrument. When I was in college studying mathematics, it was surprising to me how many students I saw in my math classes and then saw them in the practice rooms. It made sense as music is really mathematics. I looked at it as more of a relaxation from the rigors of mathematics. He is right that it teaches you that you have to practice and be able to work with one another to achieve the desired sound. I remember some nights where we just opened the doors to the practice rooms and held our own "jam" sessions. Someone just started and when you had something to add, you just started playing.

thank you,

Christine

Even after 23 years as a teacher, I feel that I would want to read all three of these books. Over the years, the students that I teach have really changed. The biggest change has been in the parents. Teachers in the systems where I have taught do not receive support from the administration or the parents. At a hearing after a student had hit me in the face, nothing was done because the father felt that I was discriminating against him. Schools are so afraid of being sued that the administrators forget who the people are who really make the system work and educate the students. Maybe these books can answer some of my questions.

Thank you,

Christine
